    Hey all,

Spotted this in Dunnes today, seems like a good deal for Christmas. Now TV Stick with multipass bundle which, if I am reading this right, gets you the stick, 1 month Sky Cinema, 1 month Sky Entertainment, 1 week Sky Sports, 1 month Kids and 1 month Hayu passes.

See attached pics. Available until 2nd December.

Thanks- I bough this and can confirm it is eligible as part of the €10 off vouchers for over €50 spend (when I bought last week)...

Saw this today as well. I notice that the rte player is listed on the box but I can't see any mention of being able to source this anywhere else including the now Ireland website. Can anyone confirm that it actually works and how easy it is to use?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,238 ✭✭✭leex

Does this come with a voucher that can be applied to an existing account?

The codes come on a card that you have to scratch to reveal.
You can enter the codes to any account you want.

The stick requires a HDMI port and also needs to be powered via a usb port in the tv or by the supplied mains adapter.

Codes no longer on a card. The passes are preloaded on the stick itself. The passes should be automatically applied when you link your account with the stick

These are €19.99 in did.ie unless specs on the stick differ

Seems to be a 5euro Just eat voucher included as-well

Looks like the passes included in the did offer are different.

    Did, €19 stick +
    - 2 months entertainment pass OR
    - 2 months cinema pass

By Comparison it looks like the Dunnes Deal includes for €25
    - Stick AND
    - 1 month entertainment AND
    - 1 month movies AND
    - 1 month kids AND
    - 1 week sports

Both decent deals, depends on what you want.

    EDIT:

It looks like did also have the multipass pack for €25 and powercity has both the €19 and €25 bundles too. Curry's has just the cheaper bundle and it is €20. Argos has these bundles too, but not at reduced price, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are reduced later in the week too.

Do all the passes activate as soon as you start using the stick, or can you choose when you want each to start?

I assume the RTE player and Netflix will work without a Now TV sub? Is the 1 month sub included for all packages concurrently?

Are u able to download Iptv on now tv stick? Or would amazon fire stick be needed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28 NateDogsCats

I have a Sky Sports pass currently and the PS4 app but I find that app isn't the best at times especially with my poor internet service. Wondering if I ought to get this especially since our smart TV won't let me install extra apps so I've no access to RTE or Virgin Media Player unless I whip out the laptop and hook it up.

Used to be scratch-off codes in the box. Now whatever package you purchase is tied to the stick and automaticaly activates once you've set the thing up.

I purchased a two month Entertainment one as alrady have the half price Sports deal (now expired)

For anyone interested you can get a months free Sky Movies code with each purchase of a premium meal at Supermacs

Yes sort of, but once you use the new stick, it will obviously be available on your other devices, plus, you can reset the "new" stick to factory and do what you wish with it., so basically it's the same as the scratch off codes, but a bit more faffing about.

I dont the answer to your question, but keep in mind Sky arent showing the St Stephens day fixtures.. theyre exclusive to Amazon Prime now.

I can get amazon. Prime free as I'm an eir customer. So that would include the matches! Great.

Not to hijack this thread but with the firestick can I install Eir, RTÉ player & other apps?

Not RTE Player, though it does have TG4 Player, I'm not sure about Eir.

Of course it has a ll the UK players, but certain unmentionable services need to be used to access them here in Ireland. Of course there is also Netflix, Youtube, Plex, etc.

BTW I recommend the Fire TV Stick 4k, even if your TV isn't 4k. I had the old non 4k stick and found it very slow, the newer 4k stick is much faster and much better even when used with a standard HD TV.

I’m an eir customer but don’t have a smart tv although I have a 4K firestick, my question is would this offer on Amazon prime be of any use to me could I play the prime TV movies.

    SuperValu doing it for €19.99

    Thanks OP

That will sort the TV in the other room when the in-laws arrive for Xmas!

I had a €25 off €100 voucher in Dunnes so as the other €75 worth of groceries were required this was essentially for free.

The original deal, is it 1 month cinema, arts & 1 week sports or only one from the 3?

Slightly different, that's 2 months sky cinema, so no entertainment, no sports, etc...

Yes I have these players showing on mine I had to manually add some from within the menu system ie just click on add Apps and a selection appears to choose from):
Sky News; All4 (plays catchup for all the Ch4 brands and a huge library of boxsets, but NOT live Ch4); YouTube; RTE Player; Virgin Player; Netflix; TED

There were others but i haven't bothered to add them yet. Unfortunately no TG4.

By the way these apps keep working even after the Now TV subscription lapses - I find the ability to access Ch4 boxsets a great bonus. Mind you it's lower resolution than HD- when I run the All4 app on my Chromecast the picture is much crisper.

By the way - this may have been covered in another thread but if you go to nowTV website they have some Black Friday offers - eg Entertainment 2 months for €15; 2 months Entertainment + Cinema for €25 - you do have to remember to cancel before full price kicks in.

Can't remember if it was posted but these aren't codes in the boxes, you have to link it to your account and then all the passes have to be redeemed together. I wanted to avoid it so I wouldn't waste the free trials I still had so I linked them up and didn't redeem, and I went back into my account afterwards and the option to redeem them is still there.

I was thinking of buying the double Sports pack but when you go to checkout it says "Your content will start immediately."

So in other words, you can't buy it now as a Christmas present...

Yeah I have an LG too. I just now tried the RTE Player on the NOW stick - it works OK and seems smoother than I remember the PC version anyway. But there is nowhere that I can see to select live TV, just catch-ups and box sets.

Now I'm trying the RTE Player app built-in to the LG - it complains that it needs to be updated since mid-October. After a few failed attempts, in the end I exited, fired the app up again and took the option to update it. Works fine - nice and smooth on The Shield box set. Maybe they have finally sorted out their problems? but again there is no option to show live TV. I don't have proper broadband - use Vodafone 4G tethered on my phone, but it works for me for RTE and Ch4 boxsets with the occasional pause.

Just for completeness I've just run the Player app on my Mac and now I do get the option to play the live channels.
    Hope this helps.

Amazon have the rights to these games in the UK only, not ROI.

Premier Sports have the rights to the Saturday 3pm games, midweek fixtures this week and St Stephens Day games too.

Irish customers won't be able to watch these games on Amazon, they don't have the rights.
