You're at 84GB according to who? Your phone or Gomo? Your phone will tend to overshoot your actual data used. Did you receive an SMS from Gomo saying you had used your 80GB? If not, you probably haven't.

My phone says 84. I got a text when I hit 80% but none when I hit 80gb

You likely haven't hit 80GB yet then. :)

I always thought the phone usage stats where fairly accurate. Maybe you're right though.

Just got the text now. 84.88GB according to the phone. Speeds down to a crawl. Will just use work data for the next week.!

Hey, got throttled 2 days ago, got the text and all. The wife had been home sick watching Netflix last week so I kinda knew it was coming.

Apart from that I'm happy with the service.

My question will I be un-throttled at the start of the month?

My question will I be un-throttled at the start of the month?

Yup, gets reset for the next billing cycle

It's the wife you should have throttled! :pac:

Seriously though, go into the settings on your Netflix account and turn down the streaming quality a tad and that will help.

Im currently throttled, it unusably slow for anything bar email and text based sites like boards. Is their any way to get a data top up to get me to the end of the month?

    🙈🙉🙊

Alas, no. This is where a dual-SIM phone comes in remarkably handy!

According to my bill, I was throttled a few GB before reaching 80gb in Feb. Did this happen to anyone else last month?

Same here, according to the bill I used 77Gb and was cut off (or effectively cut off with bandwidth cut down so much web pages could not load 0.2mbs iso speeds.)
Even at this by my own logging I was well under the limit and called them to see why it was cut so soon.
Go mo told me that they did not even have access to see what data usage had been consumed until the bill was published..
    Madness.

Maybe it's the short month with pro rata allowance?

    (29/30) x 80 = 77.33

Fairly mean if that's what they're doing.

Seems to be what they have done. Kind of ratty. In their t&c's, it says 80gb fair use per billing period, not per 30 or 31 days.

Could it be that GoMo measure upload and download rather than download only?

I notice I use a few GB in upload?

    No 4G today or yesterday

Doesn't even detect and drop back
    Must change to 3G yourself

Have checked settings of other phones
here and no problem there, also have swapped
out sim into other phone and still no 4G

    Nowhere near my allowance

I've no idea what's going on

Could be an issue in your area too.

Any chance GoMo will remove the 80GB cap due to the Coronavirus? I will have to work from home soon and use a GoMo SIM in a wireless router. The cap will be an issue!

    Cheers,

    No chance imo

The best you could hope for is that they don't throttle as severely, 2Mbps would be somewhat usable. Or else offer a paid add-on, 50GB for 10 euro or similar.

There's little point in getting a 3 SIM as they're going to get hammered.

Found out from a telecoms friend capacity issues
    mean throttling

If you find your voicecalls not connecting step down to 2G from autoselect

It's not meant for heavy use. But depending on your line of work, you should go nowhere near 80Gb for emails, web based working & a few Skype calls per day.

I sometimes need to use VPN and Remote Desktop to external servers. Work bought me a Huawei Y6, a Three SIM with 28 days credit and an Eir SIM with a top up that can be activated once the Three SIM goes over 28 days. I'm getting great speeds connected to the Three SIM in the Y6 (wireless hotspot).

Might move the Three SIM into the wireless router once GoMo hits 80GB for this month.

Here is my problem I’m letting my son use my mobile with the go
Mo sim since last Thursday he has a PS4 and gaming computer it’s works brilliant and let’s us stream downstairs
Will I be charged extra for the usage ??
Is there a better sim plan payg that he can use just for him ??
Or would I be better going to that company that puts the sim in that box that connects to the mast three kilos away??
I thought I had solved all the issues with internet in the house but said I better check fair usage as I was ordering another sim just for his computer s
    All advice welcome

You won't be charged extra but your internet could become effectively unusable for the rest of the month if you manage to burn through the 80GB monthly allowance before the end of each calendar month.

You could order another GoMo SIM to provide an extra 80GB allowance as it's cheap as chips and you know it'll work.

Alternatively, you could try a Three prepay SIM as that'll give you an unlimited data allowance but, as it's a different network to GoMo, you've no guarantee you'll get a decent internet connection at your address unless you've prior experience with them.

There is two three masts in my area would you think that might be an option and is there a sim out there that’s 20/30 euro a month that would provide unlimited with no fair usage thanks

That should be an option so but you can only be certain by trying it out. The regular Three prepay plan gives you unlimited data for €20 top-up. It normally has a fair-usage cap of 60GB but that has never been enforced and the cap has been officially lifted now anyway for the duration of the lockdown.

Unfortunately, with shops closed, the only option is to order a SIM from the Three website and you could be waiting longer than normal as it sounds like they have a bit of a backlog fulfilling online orders.

To add to this I have lost 4G data, it says it's connected but no data service in reality

How are people hitting 80GB/month usage - I can’t understand how anyone could use that much ?
