I actually had The Breeders' song on my list, but when I checked it only made it as far as #40 in the UK so I wasn't sure it would count. One of my all-time favourite songs.

I took it off my list because it just felt too weird to call them a "one hit wonder" when they have so many great songs, almost like I was insulting them or something.

Definitely still gonna vote for it if someone else picked it though. :P

Mambo no 5.. So much fun

Always look on the brightside of life.. Again, it's fun

Hallelujah.. A classic, but Leonard Cohen a one hit wonder? Good grief!!!!

Mad World beautiful haunting cover of the more brash (still great) Tears for Fears song

Walking in Memphis - only choosing it as I detest mambo no5

Rush hour - ooooooh you send me. Catchy tune and always look on the bright side I’ve heard way too many times.

99 luftballoons - it really is a brilliant song.

    The final countdown - brilliant.

I was surprised also, but according to his wiki page, that's his only song that charted in the UK and US

Could vote for either here but I still listen to this song semi regularly whereas Mambo No. 5 I'd listen to probably only if it came on the radio and the switch station button was broken.

Another toughie, don't really mind if the other one goes through but voting this for it's comedic appearance in Scrubs primarily. Someone at a PC link the video!!

I wish I nominated this (only one of mine has come up yet) but kudos to whoever did. Probably even more so than One and Only this is a quintessential OHW and should do well... (waits for it to be knocked out by that depressing sh1te opposite it)

Fair enough. Come to think of it, Neil Young probably in similar territory here, heart of gold and harvest moon maybe

Marc Cohn - Walking in Memphis
Good little tune that, and I hate Mambo #5

Eric Idle - Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
Hidden genius, seems like a silly little skit but is really a great song

    Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah
One of my nominations, classic song

    Europe - The Final Countdown
Damn you Kol, I nominated Mad World but the Final Countdown is a stone cold classic!

    And it only just charted!
I felt a little awkward nominating it but it does fit, and it's great

Match 31 Break my stride - because its a great bouncy song for bouncing to on a bouncy castle

Match 32 - Coco jamboo - my favorite song where the main instrument is a flute fashioned from a coconut

Match 33 Kung fu fighting - possibly the greatest song in the world about kung fu fighting

Match 34 Ice ice baby - a song about ice who doesn't like ice

Walking in Memphis - great song
Jane Wiedlin - Rush Hour wow what a blast from the past. That was a nice surprise this early in the morning
Nena - 99 Red balloons - only because Hallelujah bores me to be honest
And Europe - Final Countdown - what a song!

Mambo No. 5 because it's catchy and fun to sing along to. Also, the trumpet!!!

Always Look On The Bright Side of Life because Monty Python...

99 Luftballons because Ich liebe es und es ist reiner Käse (I love it and its pure cheese).

Mad World because as much as I love Tears For Fears, there's no denying Gary Jules knocked it out of the park with this cover.

    Match 35

    No opinion

    Match 36

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, because we are all individuals.

    Match 37

99 Luftballons. Tough one this, most of the time of have gone for Leonard Cohen, but I have to pick the one I nominated. A great song, and the German version is so much better than the English one.

    Match 34

Mad World. A great version of a song where I really didn't like the original.

Mark Cohn. Great song. I nominated it.

Eric Idle. Catchy and great film.

    Leonard Cohen. He’s brilliant.

Gary Jules. Great cover. Great film.

The Final Countdown by Europe does fulfil the rules for this thread's definition, i.e. no more than 3 Top 20 hits and the act being particularly associated with one song. However, I would not call it "a quintessential OHW", as they did have other hits.
Rock The Night: UK - 12, US -30
Carrie: UK - 22, US - 3 - That was my favourite song by them!
    Superstitious: UK -34, US - 31
    I'll Cry for You: UK - 28

    R1 Match 36
Eric Idle - Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
    VS
Jane Weidlin - Rush Hour - This gets my vote.

I'm not too bothered about voting for the others, including Leonard Cohen's version of his own song, although I do like some of his songs!

OK, we get it. You don't like the rules. They're set now though, and it's just a bit of fun on the internet. Maybe let it go now...?
