Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

More yellow than the samoan one which wasn't for me. But not red.
    Rugby needs to address this.

Chris Farrell was pushing for a starting spot anyway so not a huge loss for the quarter (assuming we get there)

shocking decision red for samoa shud be a farce of a tournament

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,849 ✭✭✭ionadnapokot

Red Should even the match up

    Aki....ffs....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,684 ✭✭✭This is it

If Samoa's was a yellow then that's a red unfortunately. Should still get the fourth it'll just be much harder.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,090 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Aki can thank Robbie Henshaw anyway, not sure he’s done anything right yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,845 ✭✭✭shootermacg

Ireland can't drop their heads here. They should still be well able to win this.

VDF is too light at this level as he drives a Samoan twice his size back with incredible ease

If that's a red then the Samoan tackle was a red also.

What was he meant to do, jump out of the way?

Crazy to send a player off for that.

That's probably the end of his world cup as well.

Three game ban would rule him out for all of the knockouts even if Ireland win it.

Can he be sent home and replaced?

Lenihan a disgrace - imagine that happened to Sexton

What did he say? I'm on Eir.

Correct call as per the rules.
If it was a Samoan player we wouldn't be complaining.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,994 ✭✭✭c.p.w.g.w

So Samoa Try and Aki red both off a stupid henshaw "pass"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

That RTE commentary team are ridiculous, that was a certainty red and the kept saying is wasn't, do they want to referee the game as well. Good start from Ireland but a sloppy few minutes.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,005 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

England, France and New Zealand have massive advantages not having to play another game

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Aki can have no complaints. Ref just following the rules.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 353 ✭✭kal7

Lets hope NZ tackling get reffed to the letter.

Unless he lives under a rock he should know the tackle laws now...

That's the end of rugby as a contact sport. Want to win a game. Dip your head on the first 3 tackles and it'll be 15 against 12.

The idea that players would risk a snapped neck to get an opponent sent off is surely nonsense

Donal lenihan watching a different replay to the rest of us.

This is exactly what O Callaghan said could happen on 2fm. Ireland wales etc lose men to injuries and red cards while England and co out the feet up

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

Yeah it's a red. Aki has had an awful world cup and he capped it off brilliantly with a stupid tackle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,243 ✭✭✭C__MC

    Classic Irish mentality
If it anyone else eg. Owen farrell; he would be slated and it would be deemed a red

    Definitely a red
RTE doing all they can not to justify it

In isolation it’s a red but compared to other yellows it’s not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,452 ✭✭✭✭ednwireland

player only dropped after the hit aki just didnt wrap low enough. red under the rules.

    Indeed.
Very little Aki could do with the ball carrier stooping below head-height like that!

We need a good scrum here.

They're not employed to commentate, they're paid to lead the fan club. By tomorrow, the Aki red card will be the biggest national scandal since the Hand of Henri.

I'd say they'll leave Johnny on until we get the 4th try.

It was a red, just didn't expect it to be given

There has been a few very sloppy passes from Ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,543 ✭✭✭A2LUE42

Normally about 7 point every 10 minutes there is a man advantage, this is going to be tough. Keeping them from scoring until half time is key. Also their kicker not getting the conversion might be crucial, if they cant build a score that way.

Maybe on RTÉ tv but the RTÉ radio commentary were fair enough. They were saying it didn’t look good before he was sent off.

Fcuk me for what they’ve given yellows for and that’s a red. There is a clear fall into the tackle there

In The slow Mo Replay he wasn't moving down at the hit point. That's why red. He was moving down before contact tho
