Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    That wasn't even a penalty
It's like diving in soccer the way the ball carrier is falling into the tackle
    Yup, yeah, sure.

Sexton looks to be in a good way today.

Did anyone else see Murray getting absolutely smashed in the face a few phases before that penalty?

    Nobody even mentioned it

I dunno. Letter of the law and all that crap, but seriously, this stuff is killing the game. That was a waist high tackle.

Will we get to the point where players deliberately drop into tackles?

It happens in other sports, aussie rules for example, although the force of tackles is significantly lower.

Direct rugby. Now get the job done Ireland and then empty the bench

Great Start as usual, hope they don't struggle to get the next try as they have in the past 2 games

How can Ireland avoid New Zealand?

Scotland would have to beat Japan with Japan getting no losing bonus. As that game looks unlikely to proceed, we essentially cannot avoid them.

By the way, I'm a bit furious that the final decision on Scotland v Japan is only being taken AFTER Ireland have played. Utter lack of sporting integrity by the organisers

    Samoa have gone “off tour”

This is like a zero pressure environment I think they’ll storm this.
Couldn’t miss those goalposts against that nothing backdrop either

Van der Flier very light at this level. Although plenty of other attributes.

How can Ireland avoid New Zealand?
By finishing top of the group as the winners of the groups play the runners up of another group in the knockout stages.

Ahhhh Johnny no need to go for broke we are well on top and they are down a hooker

It's a shame that drag back from Henderson didn't go to hand. We had men out wide for Sexton to find if he'd gotten clean ball.

That was a shocker of a kick, just trying to force things a bit much.

That all comes from Johnny Sexton's error.

Totally agree with the last part of your answer. But Japan can get a losing bonus and we would still top the group if we win with a try bonus today. But as you said the match will not happen so we cant avoid them.

That all comes from Johnny Sexton's error.

He can be very inconsistent our Johnny with his kicking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,223 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Standers been smashed three or four times already. Can't understand how body manages to withstand game after game if this.

The quick line out seems like a no brainer, surprised we don't see it more often.

He's exactly the same height as Pocock and 11kg lighter.

That's an insane weight difference for two elite athletes in the same position. And Pocock clearly isn't carrying any body fat.

Strange to see Ireland give away scrum pens

Ball carriers are essentially encouraged to dip into the tackle and take a chance that they don't get too bad a shot to the head. This framework is not the answer yet. There are other dangerous things they could look at, particularly entry to rucks, that needed to be looked at.

Because he was picked up and dumped?

This myth has to stop. He’s as strong and as athletic as any other back-row in this tournament.

They both dipped but Stockdale a fair bit taller than him, he should still have been below shoulder into jaw.

Ever take a shoulder to the head? No incentive there boss.
