Dublin met.ie says 27km winds tonight? That's hardly a breeze?

Its brilliant that everyone is able to predict that this is a non event before it happens.

I think the models are talking about winds of about 33km with gusts up to 70km. That is below the yellow warning level but probably a little last to drop Leinster from the Yellow area. Change seems to have come from the projected turn being more northerly than originally forecast but from reading some posts it appears there is still a chance that it could turn earlier (While it still has stronger winds) and then winds in Leinster could reach the yellow level.

    Abundance of caution situation.

The hype over this has been ridiculous. From a county cork point of view, it was never an orange warning, even going by the forecasts at the time it was issued. All week you have staff badgering businesses to close, teachers telling students they may have to close etc. What a load of ****e !!!

Wind picking up and getting more cloudy here in West Offaly, but it's doesn't feel as bad as it was before Ophelia.I remember there was a very eerie feeling and the thickening cloud felt very very threatening before Ophelia, not so this time.

Met Eireann are covering their asses and every other media outlet sees a cheap 48 hour news cycle! It's like a bad SciFi movie!

Suddenly turned wild and blustery in East Clare in the last hour... Nothing remarkable yet because we're hardy souls out here...

It's solved the problem of how to get those last apples off the trees tho !!!
All set for cider making on Friday

Well Ned my collie is still curled up in bed. Usually when a bad storm is approaching he's up pacing around about 12 hours beforehand.

I really want to believe some people are being deliberately obtuse...

But nah...some people need to learn how to read and tell the time.

Nothing is due in the East till much much later. How many people have to come on here to say it's not that windy in Dublin or other Eastern parts.

In saying that it's not going to get that windy here but if you read the official forecasts you'd have already seen that.

Get out of here looking for your hurricanes because your only source of weather is The Sun and their exaggerations.

Talk of hype & anti-climax is so irritating. Weather reports have not indicated that this will be as bad as Ophelia or that it is due to get in any way intense until this evening and at that, in Western counties mostly.

Given the fact that it is not forecast to hit Dublin until later today/overnight that is hardly surprising

Starting to pick up now in Dublin, blackbirds seem to have scattered possibly diving for cover.

We only have a yellow warning. Maybe some fairly strong winds when the storm starts this evening but nothing major.

I flew over Lorenzo this morning over the Atlantic. It tops out at 38000 ft, which is lower than was forecasted. It was further north than forecast and quite a good bit away from land.
