I'd probably put the ticket in a safe and spend the rest of the weekend working out who I wanted to help out and include them in some sort of a syndicate set up.

No doubt if I'd won €190m I'd also find time to splash out as well.

I got an e-mail the last two Euromillions telling me I had won a prize.
    It was Euro5, then Euro10.
It was so embarrassing cancelling the Ferrari a few days later.
    Tonight's the night.

It's implied by a lot of the answers that you'd keep your win quiet. Or do ye mean just in the initial phase?

When locals spot me heading over to Portumna on my 60ft yacht to buy the messages, they're gonna start asking questions. Ditto when I buy someone a drink in the local. I don't think it's possible to keep a big win quiet.

I rent and commute so there's no one around here that would know my business now, never mind if I just moved out one day.

Besides, let's be honest here... With that sort of money you're not going to be thinking about Joe and Mary in number 29. You will be mixing with an entirely different set where a few million isn't anything special. You won't be getting shopping yourself, you'll have it delivered or have an assistant.

Anyone who reckons that sort of cash wouldn't completely change everything about their lives is either dreaming or it would be wasted on them.. The whole point of that sort of money is it's a life changing event.

Really. It wouldn’t change my life in terms of socialising or relationships. I wouldn’t tell anyone the win anyway not even people close to me as I wouldn’t want anyone to know id won. I would donate anonymously to them as I wouldn’t want people thinking they “owe” me for anything.

Apart from never having to worry about money again for myself and people close a lotto win would buy me freedom to do the things I want. If I had the winning ticket I already know what that is.

Some people would happily do things like Volunteer helping animals , helping people, helping found research to a disease or conservation etc.

For some people winning the lotto buys them the freedom to do what ever they want with their time.....they don’t value material things such as fancy cars, huge houses, expensive cars.

Some of the wealthiest people I’ve met would look like they haven’t got money at all.

So you've won the Euromillions on Friday night all €190m of it !

Youre sitting on your couch, its 9.30pm and you have the winning lotto ticket in your hand.

The lotto offices dont open until Monday at 9am.

What do you do next ? Where do you put the ticket ? do you think you'll sleep over the weekend ?

will you drive to Dublin or take the Train/Bus ?

Not interested in what you do after handing in the ticket just what happens beforehand !
You don't get the money for a few days. They need to collect from the other euromillions countries.

Well the thread is about what you would do with the ticket in order to keep it safe rather than what you would do with the money.

Well no one has to worry about the safety of the ticket for the big prize tonight. The jackpot wasn't won, it will be nearly 190million on Tuesday. Yikes, that's a lot of money if one person wins it alone isn't it.

Well going back to this, when you buy your ticket your odds of dying before the draw are actually shorter than winning it

So maybe your ticket will be in your hiding place and you pop your clogs and your family don't find it until 8 months later

It was around 300k short of 190m tonight. From Tuesday the extra over 190m will go to the next level where they are winners.

The EuroMillions jackpot currently stands at €190 million, which means that the Jackpot Cap has been reached.

As nobody won the top prize on Friday 20th September, the funds rolled over for the 18th consecutive time and the €190 million maximum jackpot is now up for grabs on Tuesday 24th September

If the jackpot reaches the €190 million cap, all funds from ticket sales that would have pushed the top prize higher are rolled down into the next winning tier. The jackpot can roll over four more times, but if there is still no jackpot winner in the final draw - the fifth successive draw when the jackpot is €190 million - the full amount is split between the winners in the next tier. This potentially means that a number of multimillionaires can be made in a single draw.

On Monday morning when the lotto HQ opened I imagine the rosary would be underway over my stone cold body and the coffin nails would be being tightened

    Ohh I hope that happens.

I like these rules, although I'd split the fund sooner.

Oh that's very interesting, I never knew that. Sounds very reasonable to me.

And worth a flutter too for those who may win in the lower tiers.

TBH I don't think I'd like to win the top prize, but would be very happy with a win in the lower tiers. Have to buy a ticket though, and there is a danger that I might win the jackpot ha ha!

Thanks again. Every day's a schoolday!

Very small odds to even win the next level down. No winners in next category in Ireland tonight.

Match All Winners Irish Winners Prize
    5 + 2 Stars 0 0 €189,603,734
    5 + 1 Stars 13 0 €162,730
    Match 5 36 1 €13,687
    4 + 2 Stars 99 3 €2,434
    4 + 1 Stars 1,749 41 €147

But yeah, a win in a lower level and share it with a few other people would be nice.

Would be about 15m each if it had happened tonight.

It's not to become "best buds" with a new group of superficial assholes... it's to be in an environment where significant money isn't anything unusual and thus not questioned.

You're still with people who place a lot of emphasis on money and acquisition if you're with people who are multi-millionaires. In my (albeit limited) experience these kinds of people are only interested in you so long as you're on their level. Try losing all that cash and see how many of them stick around and want you in their company.

See that to me is a pointless waste of the opportunity. If you play to win that sort of money (no-one ever gambles hoping they come second or third!) then why not enjoy it fully?

Opportunities for what though? I'm already contented and having €190 million in the bank is not going to increase my level of happiness. On the contrary in fact.
Studies have shown happiness actually decreases once you exceed a certain threshold- ~€100,000 in Western Europe. That's been known for many years now. https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/money-can-buy-you-happiness-after-certain-point-it-may-have-opposite-effect-1661452

"The study, which was published in the journal Nature Human Behaviour, suggests that once a certain threshold is reached, further increases in income are actually associated with reduced life satisfaction and lower levels of well-being.

The researchers speculate that while money was important for meeting basic needs, purchasing conveniences and other useful things, after the optimal point, people may become fixated on pursuing further material gains and engaging in social comparisons - which can lower well-being."

Look at what happens to people who win huge amounts on the lottery. I heard a while ago the figure of one in three in the UK who not only lose it all, but end up having alcohol or drug dependency problems, broken marriages and in debt.

But of course most people conveniently forget all that and think it won't apply to them. :pac:

the same lifestyle with no real changes beyond what you could probably get with a better job just seems pointless.

But I don't want a better job and I like my lifestyle already. Giving most of it away to different causes dear to me, and helping out my friends would not be pointless for the recipients. Just because I wouldn't hold onto most of it doesn't mean I wouldn't have big plans for what to do with all that money.

..I'd then look into a holiday home abroad and do some travelling while I think about what to do for the rest of my life. I can't see myself going back to a full time job, but I think I'd want to do SOMETHING

I'd definitely help my partner in getting him a base in his own country-some land and a house. A bolthole for when he's had enough of me here :D

More money for me would just expedite what I have already planned for my future, not change them. It would also help to pay for a degree course I would like to do, so that would be cool too.

And on further thought I wouldn't buy second hand cars, I'd have the money then to buy two new electric vehicles for myself and my fiance, which would be the better option IMO.

So, the email landed from the Lotto lads saying: check your ticket. The results page says there was one winner of the €5m.

I had the money spent twice over waiting for the account to open up, to find it telling me that I've won the grand sum of €15.

So here's the thing - it looks like I matched three numbers, which according to their results page, should get me €8. There is no €15 prize for anything this week, as far as I can see on the results page.

How did I end up with €15?

I got the lottery numbers tonight...

...on two different lines. 3 numbers on one line, 3 on the second line. All I get is €8 and a daily million ticket.
