Someone in Ireland got the top prize tonight. A bit unlucky to hit it when it was the minimum €17 million.

I wish i was that unlucky:(

    Fri 25 September 2020

    Jackpot: €130,000,000

Match All Winners Irish Winners Prize
    5 + 2 Stars 1 0 €130,000,000
    5 + 1 Stars 5 0 €247,048
    Match 5 25 1 €11,548
    4 + 2 Stars 78 3 €1,153

Fridays results - Anyone any idea why the prize pay-out is considerably lower after top prize? Its crazy having just one person win €130 Million. Would it not make more sense distributing it evenly for lets say the top 4 at least

I’m gonna guess it’s due to the fact that only one person matched the drawn numbers? Isn’t that the point of a lottery?

Since the Lotto was bought out by the Spanish(?) crowd, the prizes under the main win have dropped significantly (for the Irish lotto anyway). They try to hide this by saying there are more winners than ever, and there are, but it's mostly €3 winnings, a scratch card or 1 free line at the Daily Millions.

Like, being 1 number off and you lose out on 129.75 million! I'd be gutted anyway.

I haven't done it since and I love Canadians.

Big prizes attract more sales. And there is no shortage of draws with smaller but substantial prizes in the National Lottery if that is your preference.

Tbh I don't even do the lotto for this exact reason but if there was better chances for people to become millionaires without having to match 5 +2 I'd guess there'd be a lot more sales

I know a guy that got 4 and 2 stars, he won something like 3 Grand. I'm not sure what the actual prize was but I think it's absolutely rubbish to be so close and get absolutely nowhere near what the top prize is.

Last draw it was €1,153, 78 winners with that sinking feeling. It would hardly be much consolation to know that a while back they could have got 3 grand.
