What's that sweetheart that do I know what the inside of a whorehouse looks like? In the 70's yes I did. Was one in East Harlem all done in deep Reds and Lavender. With those frilly lamp shades and always burning cinnamon/honey incense.

What can I say, in my youth Ol'Shady was well shady. Ha!

More curious about the paint colours and if theyre a common whorehouse colourscheme than how you're familiar with them. I liked the way youbsaid it ad if everyone would know what the inside of one looks l8ke :) Good description!

Well most are in those color schemes to be honest. Deep reds/lavenders were considered sensual colors if you get my drift. You wouldn't be in the mood going to one all in bright blues/yellows, now would ya?

Makes sense but then Cynthia Payne's place was all chintz and magnolia paint

Jesus that would feel like a doctor visit. No you needed the dark colors, the frilly shades and curtains. And the incense and free Brandy to make the most of the evening. It just all fit if you get my drift. And right now I just realized I'm discussing whorehouse 101 online, Ha!Just be thankful I don't talk about the women and in all their glory, vying for the next trick.

I remember my first daughters haircut. And she kept saying "Princess"because she wanted to look like one.Now when I mention it to her as she's older, all I get is angry looks. But to me it was a wonderful moment.

People always do want to talk about it, funnily enough. Some people want to shock or impress I think (but you seem too sensible for that ;) ) The interior decor is one aspecg Ive never heard anyone mention before so it made me laugh. Anyway I think Cynthia did serve drinks but it was somewhat old fashioned.

Surely everyone knows what one looks like, especially if you visited Thailand

No...not everyone's used a brothel. Guess it's kind of an echo chamber thing. Also I'm female. I wouldn't have much interest in one at the best of times.

If you visit thailand ..or parts of eastern europe and don't use a brothel...you have probably STILL seen the inside of one ...and been approached by girls ..even if you are a female along with guys. Its weird.

They will be right amongst the pubs and clubs .hard to avoid seeing them

I would wager 90% of Irish men who have been in such places more than once have used them.

Then you haven’t visited Thailand :):)

Gotta admit that I was always too scared to use the services, but the visits were always worthwhile.

Be advised if you go back ..eventually you will use them ..and be advised you will probably be drunk when you do ..so be careful.

I have been drunk in Thailand and Amsterdam and never once felt the desire to go to a brothel! Cant imagine ever wanting to pay for sex from an prostitute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,633 ✭✭✭✭Widdershins

Oh I get you now. Well no I haven't been to Thailand but presumably the interior decor isn't the same there!

    Resting on my bed, thinking.

Curled up on the couch about to watch couple of New Amsterdam episodes. They've TOTALLY recycled (pillaged) a bunch of old ER/Grey's Anatomy case studies, but it's first new series I've gotten into in ages. Light and easy.

Went for a long long long walk in the rain, it was actually lovely: foggy and atmospheric, not too wet.

Shoesdayschild - have a blast!!! Head out to the coast/beaches for a bit if you can, they're surprisingly quiet after the crazy of Hollywood etc. Not Venice though, that's chaos. Would love to be there right now - this California kid misses the west coast every now and then - and now is a then!

Whorehouse does sound like a paint colour but by Farrow &Ball not Dulux.

    Also "Den of Iniquity Lilac"
And "House of ill repute Red"
