Can't wait for Irish doctors to twig the growing burden of cars, vans and trucks on our emergency care system.

And indeed, our cardiac care system, our diabetes care system, our stroke care system and most other care systems.

Yeah. Nothing to do with the horrific injuries they have to deal with on a regualr basis.

Pretty sure the stats show more horrific injuries from cars and other vehicles than escooters. Don't really here them coming out calling for more enforcement, or more cameras/ anpr to reduce them.

anecdote warning - i know more people injured in scooter incidents in the last two years than i know people injured in car collisions in the previous 10. and i know a lot more car users than e-scooterists.

To the degree mentioned in the report? I suppose I should take the win that it's the first time anywhere close to my age has been bracketed with 20 year olds in a very long time!

The stats are the stats, but at the same time when I see road behaviour and the impacts on life (lives and life changing injury), escooter usage is way down the list.

it clearly falls into the 'low volume, high risk' category, while being very visible. kids are now using vehicles capable of faster speeds than mopeds were 20 years ago, with less safety gear and (arguably) more unstable in use.

it's obvious low hanging fruit.
