the standard of finals has been absolute shyte in general.

only a 1/3 or less in the last 5/6 years making it to 3 sets. many of them being absolutely 1-sided

granted there have certainly been some 1-sided men's finals also in the last number of years but it has generally been far more competitive (case-in-point this very men's final) and with some classics or near-classics thrown in there.

highly impressive for anyone to dare not to roll-over when they're 2 zip down against the Nadal beast.

what a fooking performance to take that game and the 4th set. that was an excellent serve by Nadal and he sticks in the the corner down the line.

Medvedev wins the fourth set 6-4. A huge upset could well be on the cards.

what happened there on serve - Nadal wasn't fully through his arse-crack-picking-routine to receive?

I don't normally go against Nadal but that is not the case here.

Medvedev doesn't deserve to have 6-2 on the final set record here. He's been absolutely brilliant.

Really thought it might be a Delpo vs. Federer moment ten years later but looks like it's not to be.

Nadal though . GOAT.

Nadal holding at 1-1 in the set was critical.
Medvedev had all the momentum but Nadal managed to battle through that game.

Medvedev tired after that ,doesnt look 100% and making too many unforced errors.
He is young ,hard to beat Nadal in a final first time out ,even harder when coming from 2 sets down.

Medved has just lost much of his tennis ability in the last few games completely - must be wreckedness

hitting some ridiculously bad shots borne of tiredness

I'll readily admit that Rafa takes the piss with the time and the towels and the bottles and the bouncing and the picking his hole but that last time violation was bull****. The crowd were roaring.

Medved is going to win a few slams at least based on that display if he can be consistent.

Such an awkward style of shot to play against and seems to have it upstairs.
