Met Éireann have reported a 180-300% increase in rainfall when compared with same period 2019.
Met have advised that the current regime of periods of high intensity rainfall will possibly be a feature of our weather over the next 14 days.

The OPW have indicated that the river network has responded to the recent rainfall since Storm Ciara, with 9% of all river gauges registering above median flood levels. It is expected that all river catchments will see further rises due to the forecasted rainfall over the next 14 days, with both fluvial and pluvial events possible anywhere in the county.

A good dry, high pressure dominated spring like 2011 would be lovely, surely it has to change some time...

Spring 2011 followed by June 2013/Summer 2018/September 2016 and November/December 2010 would do very nicely for the rest of this year, we deserve it after such a disappointing run of weather for over a year now!

2019 overall was a stinker of a year for weather and so far 2020 has continued on with this. Summer 2020 and Winter 2020/2021 will hopefully deliver something a bit more seasonal and interesting this year, all we can do is hope. We are getting to the stage where we desperately need a proper prolonged dry spell and we need one as soon as possible. It's been game, set and match to the Atlantic for what seems like forever, I think we could all do with a change!

100% agree. So sick of it at this stage that I have booked a sun holiday for April. Just cant take anymore of this depressing weather + waiting in hope for nice weather. It was freezing in June in 2019 FFS.

rain looks very heavy now over Wicklow. Still a heavy stretch of rain between Shannon and Dundalk. Still pouring here in Meath, could be midnight before the rain clears.

GEFS ensemble chart as we go into March. Hardly the most inspiring with low pressure still close by with the continuation of raw, chilly westerlies and some rain or showers at times. Typical March weather really but typical March weather is not something I would jump up on down in joy for.

Did the track of the rain shift south? Based on accumulation charts we were discussing yesterday Galway seems to be doing alot worse than forecast.

Slightly more than was forecast I think, though here locally pretty much as forecast (which was for about 15-20mm)

Don't have any stats at hand but it seems that this particularly wet period over Galway and pretty much most of the West in general was triggered off sometime in mid to late July last year. Some extraordinary daily totals during that month that continued pretty much throughout August. After that, it just seems to be raining more often than it isn't ever since. Who knows though, maybe nature will balance itself out over the coming spring and summer and bring us a prolonged dry spell. But... this is Ireland.

Seems to be windier here than some recent storms. Not even a yellow warning.

Windy here though not especially strong, but for some reason it is making funny, if ominous sounding 'whirring' noises.

I find it sounds different when its a south west wind.
Nearly took the door off the wifes car earlier, some nasty enough gusts.

It has eased off now; a bad squall was all! No idea what is happening where you are. Is something outside loose?

Rotten night in cork city as ihCorcaigh said. Just in the from the pub and heavy drizzle along with some strong gusts of wind around. Everybody in the pub fed up with the weather since September so a change in weather badly needed. Here’s to hoping!
