Are you an EV virgin, or just EV curious?

Don't know the difference between kW and kWh?

Would you rather get to know a Renault Zoe than Zoe Renault?

Then the newly launched YouTube channel EV TV Ireland is for you.

Mod Note: This was discussed with the mod team, we're happy for Sabre Man to keep up the posts, great work keep on going!

Episode 4: interesting, just one comment: How charging works, IMO, refers to the chemistry.
Maybe how to charge an EV.
Would love to have seen the adaptor in situ, it looked like a ray gun :D

Not sure if this has been posted before , it's just explaining the difference between kw and kwh ,
In a fairly reasonable if a little caustic way ..

Please note that Cork Cars & Coffee is relocating to Lidl Wilton, which has two 22 kW charge points, due to adverse weather conditions.

Cars n Coffee in stormy weather. Gonna be a tough sell. What even happens at these cars n coffee meets? Chat about EVs? Isn't that what we do on this forum?

They have a covered car park, so it should be fine. I think it's mostly going to be windy anyway, not pouring rain.

Chatting about EVs is indeed what happens, but there are also test/demo drives and you can see what other EVs are like and get answers to your questions in real time, so it's a lot more social than this forum.

    Afraid to ask elsewhere....

What’s the story with the reduced tolls for EV and PHEV?
    What is the reduction?
Is it on every toll road, or just the M50?
Do you need a tag, or just pay at the gate?
What’s the cheapest tag to get for a non-frequent user?

    It covers all tolls.
You have to use a tag, not cash at the gate.
EV's get a bigger discount than PHEV's.... its peak/off-peak dependent. EV's get upto 75% off at some times.

The refund is paid the month after the toll fee is incurred.

That depends on who you buy the tag from. Some provide an instant refund.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I get an instant refund (tolltag.ie / parkmagic). Went through the M50 toll twice this evening. Cost me €0.58 each way :) 75% discount off peak

Almost all my toll use is socially, yet I saved €300 last year because I have an EV. Nice.

Registered with tolltag.ie earlier this evening.
Good to know the refunds are quick.
Not a huge toll user, but the PHEV discount covers the 10% charge, so it’ll save me looking for cash at the gates!

Basically is there a best/ cheapest way to charge on the public network? Is the ESB PAYG card the only way of charging publicly or is there another that will do it cheaper? Is there a card you can use with all chargers?
