Fiesta. Is it a MK5 or MK6?

This should be a quick enough one for those of you in the know.

My Mother has a 2005 Fiesta "MK5" Steel. Everytime i look for parts online (without the ability to give the reg) i always search for Mark 5.

The Mark 5 was produced from 2002 - 2008, however most times i get results it refers to the MK 6 which was produced from 2009 to present. Recently i was ordering ARBs and being lazy i ordered the ones for the MK5 without actually checking, but when they arrived and i started to replace them i found i needed the ones for the mark 6 (different shape and size). Won't make that mistake again.

So why is the MK5 called, or sometimes called, the MK6 and how in the name of God do you differentiate between the two when some parts are not compatible.

The Mk4 facelift in 1999 was commonly referred to as the Mk5 in the UK and it kicked on from there.
