again your reading comprehension is poor.

that did not take place. you imagined it. god knows how.

From the post history ITT it’s an obsession with splitting hairs on semantics. Earlier they claimed to be the reigning authority on when to use the word Fascism.

Well you aren't covering yourself in glory here either are you?

It doesn't take a "rocket surgeon" to figure that out.

well obviously your background and qualifications are relevant if you think that the police are supposed to ignore crime because it might upset criminals to be arrested .
its already been explained to you why this sort of arrest is made in these circumstances just because you don't like it doesn't make it wrong

Eh, he never said that they have to ignore crime. Bundling a person into an unmarked van with multiple officers is overkill. They weren't an immediate risk to anyone. Arresting them at their home would be far more logical.

The person arrested wasn't just randomly walking down the street, they were part of a large group on a protest march.

It is absolute stupidity to think a situation where tensions were already high and the officers were massively outnumbered is a 'safe' time for unmarked officers to arrest someone for a non-violent crime that happened weeks ago.

NYPD spend their time crying about murder rates and trying to blame everyone else for them while at the same time wasting all these resources here. The actions of the cops were aimed to incite the crowd and when they didn't get the reaction they wanted they lied about it.

Also clearly wasn’t “safely” if NYPD can simultaneously claim they were assaulted with rocks and bottles.

I think the Trump presidency permenantely broke some peoples brains. Not sure how the US is going to deal with it but I suppose the Federales rounding up the ones whos looniness goes beyond dying their hair blue and screeching on twitter might be a good start.

What basis do you have for a non violent criminal resulting in a siege? Should all future crimes use unmarked vehicles to grab people? Sure they could all result in sieges by your logic.

Big win for the protesters. Phased withdrawal of the federal forces in Portland.

Likely a sign that the Trump team have finally realised that inciting chaos and then showing a complete inability to stop it isn't a smart election move, especially when their response instead provides images of dragging people into unmarked cars and shooting peaceful moms and kids in the face.

Puts the onus on the protestors to keep all protests peaceful going forward. Hopefully that's what happens.

Fingers crossed. Peaceful protests haven't stopped state forces from becoming violent so there is no guarantee how any side will react.

President Trump said Wednesday he would send the National Guard into Portland if the violence doesn’t subside.

The president’s remarks come as federal officials are preparing to pull out of the city and de-escalate the fevered tensions between police and protesters. Just hours earlier, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) announced the federal government has agreed to pull federal officers out of the city.

“After my discussions with VP Pence and others, the federal government has agreed to withdraw federal officers from Portland. They have acted as an occupying force & brought violence. Starting tomorrow, all Customs and Border Protection & ICE officers will leave downtown Portland,” Brown tweeted.

But Trump took the podium at an energy conference in Midland, Tex., and redoubled his threats to activate the National Guard, calling the protesters anarchists.

“And I told my people a little while ago, if they don’t solve that problem locally very soon, we’re going to send in the National Guard and get it solved very quickly, just like we did in Minneapolis and just like we will do in other places,” he said. “They want to solve their problem. They’ve got a very short time to do it. But they’ll either solve that problem or w’ell send in the National Guard.”

Sounds like Trump bluster and posturing, to take center stage and credit for the planned de escalation by making himself seem tougher. However it’s likely to have the Streisand Effect, like most else he does, which will result in larger crowds or protesters who oppose sending in the national guard to crack down on protests.

Meanwhile federal forces are being deployed to more Democrat cities in particular in transparent electioneering moves.

The Justice Department said Wednesday that it will send additional federal officers into major cities including Milwaukee, Cleveland and Detroit to address violent crime.

Dubbed “Operation Legend,” the program will direct agents from the FBI; Drug Enforcement Administration; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and U.S. Marshals Service to join local task forces and work with cities to reduce rising crime rates.

“The most basic responsibility of government is to protect the safety of our citizens,” Attorney General William P. Barr said in a statement. “The Department of Justice’s assets will supplement local law enforcement efforts, as we work together to take the shooters and chronic violent criminals off of our streets.”

The department said it plans to send 42 agents to Detroit and more than 25 each to Cleveland and Milwaukee.

The announcement comes at a time of growing anxiety over the presence of federal agents in U.S. cities. After weeks of violent clashes between federal troops and protesters erupted on the streets of Portland, Ore., city officials are expressing mixed reactions to the decision to expand the federal government’s footprint.

“Federal agents who are here in Chicago have been here for decades … they know their city, and they live here,” Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) said at a news conference in the past week. “They will be plugged into the existing infrastructure of the agencies, manage and supervise existing cases and investigations.”

But others have been more critical, such as Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller (D).

“There’s no place for Trump’s secret police in our city,” Keller said in a statement.

Something tells me he just can’t stand the reporting that DHS and Portland reached an agreement without him.

Ah yes. His sycophants are working overtime on this one (attached image)

Trump meanwhile shoots himself on the foot, retweeting article arguing his use of feds is “totalitarianism” and “unconstitutional.” So, he didn’t read it...

Morning all. The CA/IMHO mods have decided that this thread has run it's course.
A handful of posters are dominating this thread and generating a colossal amount of reported posts.

Our options were some thread bans, or close the thread. Closing the thread was unanimous.
