Nut job and racist I get but if someone want's to believe in a conspiracy leave them too it! I say that in a general way as I know nothing about this individual and what particular conspiracies they are touting. Calling someone a conspiracy theorist seems a bit of a cop out rather than calling them on bullsh1t with logic and reason, again this is a general view I have and not directed at you or any other poster on this thread!

For example the flat earthers are a bit crazy but they do no harm to anyone else leave them too it if it makes them happy!

Kennedy assassination conspiracy theorists make some compelling arguments that bear scrutiny!

Lumping the two together under the same headline is a cop out and disingenuous!

So when I hear someone call someone else a conspiracy theorist I don't really give them much credence as it doesn't really say anything other than labelling some one possibly unfairly!

    End Diatribe!

    Nah

Gemma believes Ireland has been taken over by globalist communists and marxists who also apparently run the church and RTE. She spreads lots of crazy conspiracy theories about the Christchurch murders being faked, George Floyds murder being faked, shops selling unicorns as lgbt propaganda.....

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

But that's it you see people use the term as a catch all label! Ahh he's a conspiracy theorist = nutjob which in a lot of cases is simply not true! I have heard a lot of conspiracy theories which bear a lot of looking into I have also heard a lot which are just nuts but, when people use that term about someone they make no distinction and often use it as a label to shut someone up rather than arguing their point! It can be equivalent to shouting racist about someone because you can't come up with a cogent and reasoned response and diverts attention away from the point at hand and relies on the shock of calling someone that to shut them up. Basically I think it is insulting to use against someone if you don't back it up with a good argument!

However in relation to the individual in the OP it's probably a safe enough bet, my point above is to them more general usage of the term. I just think it is poor debating on it's own and implies a weak position!

Trying to get my head around your stance here. Like I agree that if I was debating the efficacy of the logic behind a specific conspiracy theory then calling someone a nut is not the right way to proceed but that's not what I was doing. I was merely giving you a quick bio of this lady and one of her main defining traits in the public is her wild conspiracy theories. Now I could go on and list each and every one of them and try to debunk them using scientific literature but that is wildly impractical. I think its safe to call a conspiracy theorist a conspiracy theorist (especially when they clearly are one) and it is nothing like calling someone a racist which is a harsh degrading insult in the modern world.

I'm fairly certain she's had some kind of medical/brain related incident that's she's unaware of, it really is all very unhinged.

I remember walking passed her protesting outside Google while live streaming with her phone on a selfie stick, ranting about her rights and how she was being opressed, mad stuff.

Some of the conspiracy theory believers on here aren't well in the head, while some of them are just a combination of nut job and asshole, sort of like gems and co.
For people who claim they are such free thinkers they spend their time repeating verbatim what they read and see online and anyone who disagrees with them is a brain washed sheep.

...if someone want's to believe in a conspiracy leave them too it!

There are limits to the tolerance that should be allowed to that type though. Someone discussing the shooting of JFK, or RFK or whatever, I'll give an ear to. But the Gemma types need to be seriously combated. They're a dangerous element that prey on the easily susceptible in society. She's the dangerous type of conspiracy theorist that is out to blame the "other" for all the troubles in the world and spouting "great replacement" bullshit.

Conspiracies can and do happen. If history has shown us anything, it's that powerful groups can conspire to achieve their goals.

But the kind that go on about Hitler meeting aliens (Alec Jones), Lizard people (David Icke), 5G bollocks or numerous other items of gibberish breath that crap into young minds who then begin to see conspiracies everywhere. Although, I have to admit, I think Icke is pretty harmless really. Probably a nice guy. Just a bit touched. When he says "lizard people", really means "lizard people" :pac:

    Bless.

She lives in Shankill and is originally from Renelagh.
She ran for election in Fingal and in a By for Dublin North if I remember right.

However her campaign strategy of helicoptering over to the north side and calling it a sh1thole didn't work out as successfully as she'd hoped for.

Understood and appreciated, the rest of the post was in response to you asking why I found the term a bit insulting and was more of a general discussion I should have separated the point more clearly so apologies for the confusion, from what's been said I have no problems with what is being said about the person in the original post, she seems thoroughly hateful! The rest of my post was more general in nature and probably more appropriate to a different thread! Hope that muddies the water!;)

I wonder who would she ring if someone did assault her? She’s not into Gardaí, not mad about priests, can’t tolerate anyone in a mask and whoever it is better be straight and white. Either she’s making half decent money from her soapbox rants or she’s had some sort of a breakdown

Was her "bodyguard" thug not with her yesterday? Didn't see him in the video.

Interesting point how is she funded to do all these things? Is she independently wealthy? Or is she making money off the back of this? I don't know enough about the woman to answer either! Anyone know?
