Good old Simon will only be too happy with that. He still has a massive hard on to merge in with the English teams to the extent he can barely keep it together at times.

Keeping the conferences but ditch the additional Derby games (no gates to benefit from) would free up alot of time in a busy season. 5 weeks I think?

How will losing the SA teams impact the Pro12/14 finances? Lost game and t.v. revenue etc

Meh, not much I would say. The idea that the Kings and Cheetahs were bringing in huge TV revenues never really stacked up for me.

The cost of flying 40 people to South Africa for two weeks wouldn't be insignificant for a lot of the Pro14 clubs and the attendances were just depressing.

I'll shed no tears for them tbh.

The SARU paid travel expenses on top of a big chunk to the 12 other clubs in the competition. Can't remember exactly how much but it was a few hundred grand each certainly I think?

Ive seen lots of contradictory figures for the Pro 14 TV deal in 2018. Numbers vary from €20-30m.

South Africa Rugby CEO Jurie Roux is also playing the game with talk of the SA Super Rugby teams might join a Pro-16.
All change afoot and allot of uncertainty with CVC involvement.

28% CVC stake (€140m) in Celtic Rugby (Pro14). 27% CVC stake (€220m) in Premiership Rugby
and are negotiating for 14.5% stake in the 6N.

If SA want in to a Pro16 they are going to push mad for 6N. & CVC will have their say.

Pro 14 tv deal expires in 2021. EPCR tv deal expires in 2022.
Bidding process is now underway for 3 year 6N tv rights from 2022.

If you lie down with the devil, you wake up in hell - SA v Ireland 7N in May 2023 on SuperSport & amazon prime

Was reported originally that there'd be an extra £6M per season when the two sides originally joined

I thought it was John Lacey that you irrationally hated?

    Hard to keep up sometimes.

Yea, Lacey is the irrational one. My (and other Ulster fan's) dislike of Clancy is entirely rational.

Will never forget the day he tried to award Leinster a try after the final whistle. Such brazen skullduggery.

And having sent Jared Payne off in the 85th minute.

He worked harder for a Leinster victory that day than our whole team did at the weekend to beat Connacht.

I'd say your win ratio against Leinster is far better under Clancy than it is under all other refs. He's actually your lucky charm.

Wonder is there any risk to Ulster v Leinster?

I'd like to think that the senior panel and academy panel are training entirely separately at the moment to reduce exposure and group sizes.

However there has to be some shared element of equipment, coaching and locations which is a cause for concern. I'd imagine all staff will be tested tomorrow morning if not already.

The were all tested today as part of the scheduled IRFU testing regime. Results due tomorrow.

That's going to be the way it goes as we head into the next few months. Players, especially academy players, will most likely be living at home with a family of 4 or 5 people and the virus will transmit.

All that can be done is to minimise the risk and get on with it. Players will continue to be tested regularly. Not much else can be done really.

Maybe, but just like with the Munster case last week, if these tests are clear the match will go ahead.

If any of the Ulster senior squad test positive then presumably the rugby spotlight will turn to Connacht. This is where it could get very messy.

Fingers crossed all concerned who are symptomatic recover fully and quickly
