Speaking of Perez, this footage is mad and those marshalls were very lucky!

Anyone who can should stick on the end of the Indy 500 on Sky Sports F1 now. Great race so far. Straight run to the end once the red flag is done.

What the fûck was that? Why were they running infront of the pit exit like that? How were they not aware of Perez exiting?

Good man. Thought I'd missed the end of it!

really shows how bad the sport has become. monaco isnt fit to be on the calander anymore

2 years in a row that the winner was really strugling and shouldnt have been able to keep the position

Maybe in 2021 with the new aero rules it might actually make Monaco interesting again?

Wow Lewis, just wow. From pole position, driving the fastest car in the field around the most difficult track to overtake. How many greatest races of your life have you had now?... god I hate him. Rant over.

Don't see 2021 making any difference, the cars are gone too big for the streets of Monaco now.

Hamilton is a dick. The usual crap on the radio today but for him to be relieved of his media duties earlier in the weekend on compassionate grounds is just downright taking the piss. There were lifelong friends of Lauda all over the paddock who all managed to comment about his death and tell the odd story. Hamilton just had to make it about him. He isn't family and I think he over stepped there.

If it was Vettel doing it, or Ricardo doing it, people would be praising him for a stunning defensive drive.

But only Hamilton constantly whines like that.

It's more a poor reflection on you then on Hamilton. Toto Wolff also missed the start of the weekend and yet you're not calling him a dick. Lewis is a touchy feely kind of person, you get that in life. Lauda was a big influence in getting him into Mercedes-Benz and a mentor to him. Compassion isn't going to end the world.
Remember this is the same Lewis that dedicated his Spanish win and sent a car and his trophy out to a very sick child.

    This too shall pass.

He had a 5 second time penalty applied post race which dropped him to 14th.

I enjoyed the race. But then I only seen the highlights. If you are going to whinge so much about how the race was boring Why bother watching it. No one is forcing you to watch it live. My only gripe is that Channel 4 have adds during the highlights of the race. Sky showed highlights to and I think they had no adds during it. I do not mind the adds on the Channel 4 highlights of the Qualifying but in the race its really annoying. Just edit it to an hour or 1 hour and 10 mins with no adds just adds before and after the C4 please.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

News etc said nail biting race, top 5 wins etc I was expecting some good highlights, but there was nothing. Skipped from lap 55 to 70 to 78...
I guess F1 nailbiting is a bit different to any other form.

No, I think the Red Bull just lacked the necessary speed today as it has all season. It's easier to overtake in Monte Carlo than people think. If Verstappen had the speed he would have managed it easily enough but he didn't so ended up making desperate lunging attempts at a pass which could well have caused a race ending collision for both men. I'll bet Seb was praying this would happen.

Honda had 4 cars in points

Think if Max had an extra little bit out of the exit at Portier to stay on Hamiltons gearbox he would have got him at the chicane.

Hamilton will bitch and moan and panic multiple times on the radio during each race but do you know what he also does at the end of the day? Trust Bonno, and more often than not the trust he has in Bonno helps him be a success. Bonno wouldn't deal with that **** every weekend if he didn't think Hamilton trusted him.

Compare to Vettel who dictates the strategy because he doesn't trust Ferrari to get it done, and blames other people for his own shortcomings. I know Ferrari aren't perfect, and they drop a number of clangers, but Vettel doesn't trust them. Merc will make a mistake and Hamilton will move onto the next race, Ferrari will make a mistake and Vettel will be waiting for them to make another one next week.

Last year during the France GP Sergey Sirotkin was given a 5 second penalty for going unnecessarily slow under the safety car , I wonder will we hear anything about Bottas doing the same this year ?

From I was in teens over 30 years ago I watched F1 wnen I could.

I could for a few euro sort out my connection from TV box to satellite dish and see the high lights but from what people post I'm not bothered watching this.

Edit: to say is there a thread about the great races over the years.

I'd watch a video of them on a Sunday rather than this. There were some great ones.

It's not entertaining anymore anyways. Same cars finishing in and around the same positions every week.
What's the reason to watch it anymore?
I watched Monaco because of the history of the race. I then went and watched the Indianapolis 500 which was awesome, I then watched the Coca cola 600 which was brilliant as well.
Formula 1 used to be the kingpin of Motorsports but it's far from that now.

I found the best way to get some enjoyment back from formula 1 was to stop watching the Pre Race stuff and Post race interviews . I watch qualifing and just the race .
With drivers personallities and the stupid questions to the removed its far more enjoyable.

It has massively reduced my dislike for certain drivers on the grid.

If he started to say ‘greatest race to date’ would it make it any better? :)

The constructors championship table is depressing to read.

    Mercedes>>>>>Ferrari, Red Bull>>>>>>>>>>The Rest

    Williams.

As Monaco GPs go I did enjoy this one more than usual. I watched it live and it was the anticipation that was the key to the race. In the start, it was all about LeClerc but that was short-lived, unfortunately. Then the safety car made it interesting, Verstappen's unsafe release added another layer to it all. Then there was Hamilton's tyres which were in a dire state (according to him) about two laps after he put them on, I knew he was bluffing to an extent but I was half expecting a blow-out in the last 10 laps. The constant threat of rain was another factor. And finally, when and if Verstappen was going to try and overtake Hamilton.... and how many cars he wo0uld take out trying to do it. So overall watching live it was the "what if" that made this an exciting race - in reality, it probably wasn't. Also, I won't comment on Hamiltons moaning and "greatest victory", I don't think it even deserves a mention.

I also enjoyed the F2 to an extent, it was really good having it recorded and being able to watch it after work on Friday and served as a really nice build up to the GP weekend. The first race on Friday was a total disaster though after the safety car mix up, hard to know how they should deal with that. Also Schumacher threw away his entire weekend with a moment of madness in the first race.

Well that was better than I thought.

Was really hoping for the rain, but of course that never happened. Hamilton drove a blinder, proper keeping it on tires that really shouldn't have been on the car.

Poor race, but that's to be expected at Monaco...the real race is saturday. I thought Lewis did what he had to do, drive as slow as possible, and with Max behind you waiting to pounce, that's not easy. Granted the track is virtually impossible to pass on, but Max is Max. I'd say it was a tough race for Lewis, and one he was very, very relieved to win/see the flag.

Max did as well as he could, the late lunge out of the tunnel was slightly desperate and fraught with danger, but hey, luckily the collision didn't affect anyones race.

Last year the winner of the race had no MGU-K, this year the winner had no tires. It's a piss poor track for actual racing on.

Brilliant haha. Last number of months they've looked to be getting on more and more.

Wonder if criticisms of Vettel losing his cutting edge are anything to do with their relationship improving. Sounds silly but when you're up against someone you hate/dislike a lot of people tend to focus more and have that big desire to beat them. Maybe it's no impact and he's just struggling lately. But whether it's because or the cause of his recent performances their relationship has improved.
