    Two potentially great games today.

Clare have great potential but are hot and cold so difficult to know if they'll kick on from the great displays vs Galway last year. They are the biggest threat to Limerick as they seem to have their number. However, Waterford are on a good run and will be exceptionally hard to beat in Walsh park. The tight confines will suit them perfectly. I think they could win this one.

Cork v tipp is another coin toss. As bad a Tipp were in the league, cork were worse. It's hard to read any form from either team other than poor form. Tipp have a bad record in the Pairc and I think that will probably continue today. I don't think the quick movement and short passing cork game will suit Tipp who would prefer to go man to man against a KK or Galway.

Plenty of empty seats at the end of the stand in Walsh Park after all the talk.

    Clare 1-0 Waterford 0-01 4 minutes gone.

Harsh enough call that. No where for conlon to go. We have had a few goal chances already. Keep feeding that line

Los of standing space too. Clare dont travel great but there must be only 7 to 8000 there if 11 is capacity

Thought it was a bit of a harsh call on conlon tbh - Connors fell a bit theatrically imo.

    It was a poor decision

Waterford's full back line look a bit exposed

Needlessly overly physical from Conlon. If he just stood his ground the effect would have been the same.
    SOD looks dangerous

Imagine this in Thurles. The tumbleweed would be rolling through. Small stadia like this is where it's at. The new reality of championship hurling.

Not really. There'll be 35k at Cork-Tipp today.

That's an outlier. Most games won't break 20k until the munster and Leinster finals.

How in the name does Mahoney not take the frees. He barely misses

There was no need for him to shoulder check the defender. Getting in the way was enough. The shoulder cost them a goal.

Tadhg de búrca seems to be very quiet. Not having the influence he usually has

Waterford won’t make it out of Munster, weakest team there

They look very poor and Gleeson has to be the most overrated hurler in a very long time. He isnt a patch on Barron

Did Gleeson just try to dry hump Browne?

Up to his usual ****e, just a few minutes after throwing a Clare hurl into the crowd

That’s what it looked like. Also it looked like he was saying something to him.

Shane O'Donnell is a very important player for Clare, brave and unselfish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

I mean it’s obvious that Austin Gleeson is a talented hurler but he seems to do stupid things at times during games I’ve watched. It sounds like he believes his own hype a bit much from Waterford people I’ve talked to about him.

Clare could end up leaving Waterford fierce sick.

Should never have been that close.

Well the pitch looks better compared the plowed field it looked like the last time a game was played there during the league.

Fcuk me Marty loves his monologues.
He got a slap in the back after the one he did for the all Ireland a few years back and now it's every frigging game.
    Shut up Marty, ya dose.

Did they not credit Callanan the goal earlier!? What the **** if so.

Monster free from Hoggie to end the half

Talk about threading the needle. Don't know how that snuck through the two defenders for the goal.

Tipp well on top this half.

    Great finish from Harnedy

Shefflin made a career of throwing the ball ahead of himself. Duignan had no issue with it then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,704 ✭✭✭citykat

Game over. Corks soft centre all too obvious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

2 away wins today. That’s pretty big really given how important home advantage is seen.

Lads that ****er Cleere from Kilkenny should be hopped on the way out. Worst refereeing performance I’ve ever seen.

Apart from a few frees he didn’t give cork in the last 10 mins I actually thought he was good. He wasn’t the reason cork lost anyway

He was awful but not the reason we lost. Our defence and touch was a shambles. Tipp looked good but did we make them look great? I think it was a bit of both to be honest.

I don’t think you were watching the same game as us. Never said he was the reason cork lost, but his decisions were despicably inexplicable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,243 ✭✭✭✭RMAOK

Thought cleere missed 2 or 3 frees for cork that, imo, were blatant enough. However, it wasn't the winning or loosing of the game for Cork. Tipp were well the better team and will now be talked about as genuine all-ireland winners. I'd reserve judgement on that theory until they win another match or two.

A lot of their main players today have a lot of miles on the clock and are around the 30 year old mark.in the old championship structure that wouldn't matter as much, but this round robin system is not suited to players with high mileage.

Still, in saying that, tipp did look impressive today and could well take Waterford next weekend.
