Called into a friend this evening who is playing this. All I can say is this seems a game seriously suffering from a huge identity crisis.

Systems for the sake of systems. The loot system in particular seems particularly unnecessary, especially when it seems like you can take out most enemies with a headshot anyway.

Survival mechanics also seem completely ridiculous. Why are they even there? They really don't seem prominent enough to make a significant impact, but simultaneously annoying enough to detract from the experience.

The biggest issue I have is that sync shots (if playing solo) are now tied to a consumable....One of the best features of the previous game and necessary for solo players has been completely hamstrung. Just bizarre.

It just felt a huge step back in almost every department, and if I was looking at this game with know knowledge of the series, I would genuinely assume that this came before Wildlands such is the dip in quality.

I agree with that, it doesnt seem to know what it is. More a stew of things that work in other games.

Reading an interview with the Devs on the official website, and they were discussing the gear score system. It sounds as though a gear score 1 weapon is just as effective against the enemies as a gear score 100 weapon. Are the numbers really that meaningless or am I missing something?

Does armour work the same way? As in you aren't getting increased damage mitigation with higher gears score pieces?

Asking questions as I'm still interested in getting this at some point, but the arbitrary nature of some of the systems has me baffled.

The numbers are pointless, the ony boosts are the bonus attributes that come with the weapons (a tier 4 one may have 3 ) + 10% Drones +30 Range etc +10% reload <<< god roll on the Tac 50.

All other numbers are meaningless, the higher number you are the better chance of a tier 4 weapon are drop, but in any game that would be the case late on anyway.

It might be the pvp system. They didn't want weapon and gear level to get in the way of skill and tactics. So they were levelled.

The armour perks are not to health directly but to "resistance" 4% explosion resistance 10% maximum ammo 30 Technique cooldown etc:

A full metal helmet offers no more protection than a beanie and most of the time the beanie has better perks

Slogged tru the last few missions just to be done with it.

The actual best way to play this game is like this

    https://www.reddit.com/r/GhostRecon/comments/djlk2i/unending_badassery_commando_edition/

Which is the opposite of wildlands stealth but a bit fun but eventually you will get bored, so many icons so little to do thats actually fun. Its best played in loud with coop buddies, recomend 4 players with LMGS and 200 round mags and just walk in the front entrance.

Would pay €20 for it to get a few hours of coop out of it.

There's always the strange disconnect when you buy a game a few years later compared to at launch especially when it's all patched up like this, so reading this thread is a bit like a time machine. In other words, I'm really enjoying this and I hated the Wildlands beta, put me right off from buying the main game . It was basically everything Ubisoft haters criticise their games for but worse because it was boring.

I can't speak to how Breakpoint was at launch but to me they've improved pretty much everything about Wildlands from graphics to gunplay to the mission structure and how you go about uncovering them. This will sound strange but I really love the character's movement. He feels heavy but not sluggish and every grunt and effort he makes adds to the sense of grit, likewise all the visible slime and dirt . It reminds me a lot of MGS in some ways. I also like the survival elements such as limping when injured without using bandages. The animations are excellent from spraying yourself to making camp etc. Looks great in 60 fps too with all the foliage. I've gone the panther route as I always default to stealth in these types of games because I like being a ninja.

The various systems are overwhelming but in a good way; I can't wait to master it all. I'm playing on normal but would prefer to play this on the hardest difficulty with the survival elements dialled up (Wildlands on the hardest difficulty was too easy). However, I'm in a hotel and the TV here is so tiny I need all the aid I can get just to make anything out and don't want to be punished for literally not seeing something. Thankfully, due to the accessibility options I was able to increase font size and put more emphasis on markers which has aided my vision. I'm hoping everything will become second nature so that I don't have to rely on visual aids too much and can eventually go hardcore. The price is an absolute bargain on psn tooand even cheaper if you get the disc version on ebay.

I recently replayed it too with the new CTI mode and its a hell of a lot better than 2019, the new mode is far better than the original story (completed both)

Still having fun with this but the repetition is starting to wear on me. The campaign is too long for the missions to have this little variety. In most Ubisoft games, you've got your camps that you clear out however you want but they're supplementary to the main quest, and there are other activities alongside it. All the other activities seem like endgame or multiplayer stuff which I'm not really interested in, at least not right now .The idea of going round from base to base being a ninja is a fun concept for about 10 hours but I'm 20 hours in and still have some main quests left...

I'm assuming there's some endgame XP/loot benefit to playing in other people's games as I'm getting players hopping in when doing main missions and just not doing anything. I tested this when I switched to a side mission and as soon as I did that the person left. Also, no one really joins when you set matchmaking to side missions. I don't mind as I only do co-op for the co-op trophies but it is strange.

Also, I've been going through the customisations and can't see any eye patches. If I can't find an eye patch to complete my Solid Snake look I will be very disappointed!!!
