A bargain alert for those of us in Omniplex-monopoly parts of the country!

Omniplex have finally copied Cineworld & Odeon and introduced a monthly subscription-based service.

€19.95 a month ROI (including Dublin & Cork).
€17.95 a month ROI (excluding Dublin & Cork).
    £13.95 a month NI.

    Twelve-month subscription.
Maxx & Recline screenings included at no extra cost.
10% off additional tickets bought online for others (this online discount is no longer available otherwise).
    10% off cinema junk food.
You have to pay if you want to see a film you've already seen again.

It's about 3 years and 5 months too late for me to use (thank you children :pac:) but unless I am missing something sneaky, it'll pay for itself if you go to cinema twice a month? Seems like a great deal, boo hiss for charging more for Cork though...

It does seem exceptional value. I checked the price for an ordinary ticket and it’s €10.60. So €17.95 for limitless tickets for a month seems too good to be true?!

Unreal value. Will have to learn (with great difficulty) to not spend €8 every time on popcorn/drink everytime though.....

I'm holding out for VUE... I may be waiting a while.

My local Vue is 4.99 any movie any time so I reckon you will be waiting for them to bring in a sub.

It's over twice that in LiffeyValley

It's over twice that in LiffeyValley

It was similar to that when they took over in Limerick but TBH they have made a balls of what was a very popular cinema so I think they are just focused on keeping customers until they refurb.

Why do you have to pay if you want to see the same movie again? Quite a strange condition.

To limit impersonation abuse I would imagine.

Did anyone else noticed that the offer of "free upgrade to Maxx and recliner seats" disappears when you choose an option and click on join? This is what it shows on the next page:
    Apply now to get:

    Monthly or Yearly subscription
    See every movie once
    10% off your cinema treats
    Exclusive customer care line
    MyOmniPass only preview screenings

It's a damn good offer to be fair..

.. especially considering you can pay monthly as it's worth having a quick browse on what's coming out on Scannain or similar and deciding on whether it's worth a month or not.. I'd probably opt in some months rather than others.

Difference with the likes of Cineworld is you need to pay for a year up front.

The only profit in cinemas are the sweets, popcorn, drinks etc, 3D glasses. All the money for the movies goes back to the distributors. They know what they are doing! Cinemas ain’t charities!

Regardless of how you pay, it's an initial twelve-month contract and rolling monthly contract after that. I presume that if you do cancel after the first year, you'd then have to commit to another twelve-month contract if you signed up again.

Good value for those who tend to go the cinema over 20 times per year!
Seems like a very impractical way of forcing people to go the cinema, thus spending more money on popcorn as they're getting in for 'free'

I mean to break even obviously. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of getting it. Way to pick on words for an argument, congrats.

That is how you want to pay, monthly or a once off annual.

    https://omniplex.ie/company/terms

    6. MyOmniPass Billing
6.1. By joining MyOmniPass you have committed to paying the full annual subscription fee for the initial period of 12 months.

6.2. During the sign up process, you will be asked for your debit/credit card details.

6.2.1. If you have chosen to pay your subscription monthly:

6.2.1.1. Upon submitting your form, we will take the first month’s payment within 24 hours, and this date will become your billing date.

6.2.1.2. A recurring payment will be taken from the same debit/credit card used to sign up to MyOmniPass every month on your billing date.

6.2.1.3. If this payment is declined, we will attempt to take a payment twice over the next 24 hour period. If these payments are declined, your account will be deactivated and your pre-booked cinema tickets will no longer be valid.

6.2.1.4. Please see section 6.4 in reference to re-activating your account

6.2.2. If you have chosen to make an annual payment:

6.2.2.1. Upon submitting your form, we will take the full annual payment on the debit/credit card provided within 24 hours of your application.

6.2.2.2. If this payment is declined, we will attempt to take payment twice over the next 24 hour period. If this payment is declined your account will be placed into a deactivated state and your pre-booked cinema tickets will no longer be valid.

6.2.2.3. Please see section 6.4 in reference to re-activating your account.

That is how you want to pay, monthly or a once off annual.
So while it is paid monthly, it doesn't look like something you can opt-in/out unless you pay using Revolut and keep your balance to a minimum and then potentially top-up before next billing date.

Regardless, bit more work just to get out of "Dump months"..

    Yeah, from the terms:

5.4. By joining MyOmniPass you are agreeing to a minimum 12 month period of membership. At the end of the minimum terms your membership will continue automatically on a monthly basis unless you request to terminate your contract.

6.5. Failure to pay in accordance with the payment plan can result in your account being suspended and passed over to debt collection.

Ya, it doesn't look like it's easy to get out of, but I've signed up anyway. It's about 20 films to get money's worth and that's not including the 10% off purchases or 10% off friends tickets so with those being used, it pays off faster.

Danger will be if I'm going to the cinema more, I'm buying more food there and that could add up, but meh, I think it'll still work out well. There should be enough for 20 films a year that I'd go to see anyway. There's 4 in the next month that I'd probably have paid to see and 3 in June so like a third of the way there already.

    Quick question around this offer.
Do you download an app to your phone and access the tickets through the app??
Just wondering as if you have teenagers could it be possible to let them use it for their movies also??
Would this be possible or is it tied to the person who is paying monthly, i.e. the billpayer us the only person permitted to use the purchased ticket...
Not clear from what I have read.

You're required to submit a photo on registration so I assume it will show up for staff to verify on scan of a ticket.

Well that is a serious restriction.
Offer would have been much more appealing if the tickets were transferrable. Having this identification restriction in place is a shame.

To be fair I think having it be transferrable would be a bit of a silly expectation to have.

Ah so it’s a renewing monthly subscription over a year? I thought it was just a monthly one that you could pick and mix when it suited you...a bit like the Netflix subscription.
