Michael D, if this was England, would be the emperor king of the country.

A thought runs through my mind that The Roman Empire never really went away, it just shifted north.

    Most probably yes.

It's not like the state is trying to cover things up here.

Its ireland, no one involved will be prosecuted. Jail time is only for scape goats and the plebs.

    .

We have three times more politicians in this country per head of population compared to other countries.
And how many ex-presidents are we paying 6 figure pensions to them and their handlers?
As Bob Geldof said, Banana Republic.

    We don't manufacture bananas anymore.

We are no longer the largest exporter of bananas in Europe.

That'd be Sir Bob, ex freeman of Dublin, but currently still (hypocritically) freeman of London.

Mary will be back to tell us that's because the evil EU said our bananas must be straight...

Possibly, but I'd have more than a few questions to ask Bob Geldof about Bob Geldof.

The Republic is not 70 years old. The State has been describing itself as a Republic for 70 years, which is a different thing.

    It's a Republic.

The fact the 6 counties is not part of the Republic is another matter for another thread.

I said nothing about the 6 counties nor is it relevant to my post.

    What's your point then?

    What's your point then?

I made a point that the republic is not 70 years old. The state has simply been styling itself as a republic for 70 years. Quite a different thing.

How has it been styling itself as a Republic?

By calling itself the Republic of ireland.

    Yeah, which it is.

    It's hardly a misnomer.

I never said it was. I simply said it wasn't 70 years old, which it isn't.

Can a country be both a Republic and the other part under occupation?

    A country can't be a Republic.

    You're wasting your time lad.

Can a country be both a Republic and the other part under occupation?

Certainly. 26 counties of the United Kingdom are a republic under occupation by those republican forces, while 6 counties remain unoccupied.

    :):)

These would be Irish counties occupied by native Irish? The UK is merely remnants of the Empire spun for the modern palate.
