After the great Bahrain race, hopefully another cracker, perfect for breakfast on Sunday.

All sessions on Sky F1, the Online Service and tbc
    Friday, Free Practice 1, 3:00-4:30
    Friday, FP2, 7:00-8:30
    Saturday, FP3, 4:00-5:00
    Saturday, Qualifying, 7:00-8:00
    Sunday, Race, 7:10-9:10

    Talking points:
Will Leclerc put more pressure on Vettel and Ferrari management
Will Ferrari get its ducks in a row?
Will RedBull fix its aero issues? (First time they blame themselves and not the engine partner btw)
Will Hamilton get more aggressive, as so far he seems in cruising mode for me.

    Predictions:
    Ferrari Win
    Honda podium
    Double Haas points
    No Williamspoints

Do we consider this a power circuit, so could we see the true potential of the Ferrari versus Merc? I'm thinking DRS will allow for even more overtaking now that cars can follow each other.

    Here's the track:

And the tyres allocated to each driver:

Poor Karun is suffering in the commentary booth trying to talk to those other buffoons.

Albon not taking part in qualy, lost it out of the last corner in FP3 and damaged his car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

Stroll showing some solidarity with his old team by going out in Q1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Gasly seems to be getting further away from Verstappen instead of closer. He's down by 6 tenths even though he's on the faster tyre.

    Bottas is flying, fair fups.
    Not looking good for Ferrari

Great to see the two Renault's and Riccardo back into Q3. Not so good for the two Mclarens.

Mercedes are further ahead than I expected, half a second is massive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Red Bull and Haas got their timing wrong and no second lap for them. Hamilton is on it now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

Well done Bottas, Lewis looked like he was going to take it until the final sector

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

The top 10 all qualified beside their teammates. Mercedes definitely the stronger of the two today. Hopefully Ferrari are closer on race pace and can fight for the win

Great lab by Bottas. He is definitely driving better this season. Hope we get a great race tomorrow now.

There's definitely an improvement, but I'm still not convinced he has the beating of Hamilton over a season. Hamilton is relentlessly consistent, by comparison Bottas can be on and off. No matter, roll on tomorrow. Should be a good race

True that will be the real challenge for him to see if he can keep it up for a whole season. We all seen how much it took out of Nico Rosberg. I still think its a pity Rosberg retired after that season. In fact I would have preferred that he had not won the WDC in 2016 and won it in 2017 instead just so we would have got to see Hamilton and Rosberg battle it out in the new bigger cars.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Disappointing that Verstsappen couldn't get his lap in, had a great chance of splitting the Ferraris at least. Hopefully he can keep the pressure on during the race.

Huge gap between the two Red Bulls, especially seeing how close all the other teammates were in Q3.

Same old same old with for Mercedes getting the pole at Shanghai. Although it's Bottas turn to get it this time.

The 1000th race should hopefully become a cracker tomorrow.

Hopefully Renault won't have any reliability issues tomorrow.

Five pairs of teammates side-by-side on the first row of the grid is going to make Turn 1 mighty interesting tomorrow.

Would love some unexpected rain around lap 10 tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Brundle takes Ocon on his grid walk and makes a mention of how he "should be driving one of these cars" and the first driver they speak to is Stroll. It was weirdly awkward

Hopefully a good race, looking forward to it

Verstappen and Kubica spun on the formation lap. Struggling to get the tyres warmed up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,474 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

The 1000 build up was good

Spin on warm up lap, tires might be difficult today

DanyK gets a penalty for that one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,474 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

    Kvyat looking adventurous
Pity he has drive through but probably fair enough, gave it too much throttle with cars on his outside, cost McLaren alot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,474 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Ted already referring to bottas as a rear gunner for Hamilton :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Drive through penalty for Kvyat was a tad harsh, it was hard to see from the camera angle we saw but I thought it was more of a racing incident

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,474 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Wonder are they managing tyres a bit, not very close racing

Vettel looking a bit rough with his driving, Ferrari not looking great compared to Mercedes

    Redbull sticking close

I think he's getting close enough to try for an undercut

Especially if Ferrari try switching their cars again

I'm not a fan of teams telling a driver to let their team mate pass. Renaults reliability is so bad

If Bottas wants to be treated as anything other than a number 2 he needs to start giving Mercedes some headaches and get after Hamilton
