Hi all. Decided to start a log to try keep myself committed to this weight loss. I carry most of my weight around my belly. Haven't done much sport/proper exercise since leaving school 4 years ago. Always felt too intimidated to even set foot into the gym, despite having free membership with college.

Now I've booked a dream trip to Thailand with the boyfriend at the end of August, and decided now is the time to give myself a kick up the behind and do it. Really don't want to feel so crap about my body that I don't get in pics.

Goal is not just to lose weight, but also want to learn to swim by August so I will be doing lessons at my local pool once a week for that.

So far, with more walking and being a bit more mindful about what i eat, i'm down 5kg and feeling motivated to keep it going. Goal weight I have in my head is around 65kg. (I know this might not be possible by August but want to be making good progress on it by then)

    My plan starting off is:
(please be aware i'm a complete novice to this and open to advice)

8,000 steps per day minimum (goal is 10,000)
gym twice a week (need to figure out a good gym exercise plan)
    swimming lesson (once weekly)

Just nosing through the forum. How did you get on?
I never learned how to swim, regrettably, but it just wasn't for me. Too much coordination. I did get over my fear of water (somewhat) and was able to jump from a boat with a lifejacket on me on my last holiday.
A bit of advice but gym twice a week doesn't sound like much for an ambitious weightloss plan. If I were you I'd get a trainer to do up a good program involving weights - plenty of squats. The weight will drop off and you'll tone up in no time.
Walking is beneficial for mindfulness and can help with weightloss. it might be a good idea to go to the gym more often-4 or 5 times a week, and aim for 6000 steps. On days you don't have gym, aim for 10000.
