    Why?
To go from an academy contract to a full blown pro contract and be the Scottish 10 for the next 10 years possibly....it's far from insane...and with the recent noises from the irfu about contracts...I think this rumour has some of us quite worried

Why would he leave a European heavyweight where he is getting a large amount of game time for a Glasgow side who have lost 5 from 7 this season and are struggling significantly? They play under a union which is under constant financial strain and cut their cloth accordingly. They also have a young Scottish outhalf who is only a couple of years older than Healy and already has 14 test caps.

It's not like he'd be moving because he doesn't have a chance of getting capped in green. He's almost a certainty to be capped in the next few years and, pending Carbery's status, could be first choice for Munster this time next year.

Stranger things have happened but it's hugely unlikely that he'll depart.

    JJ headed to Northampton.
not impossible that he goes too.
Would be a shock but Glasgow were Pro14 finalists not long ago and the allure of working with townsend could be appealing.

shocking but not impossible is how i would view it.

Scotland also have a 26 year old South African fly half who has recently qualified through residency.

Healys route to test caps is much easier in Ireland than Scotland

Very different scenario. For the 2014/15 season, Munster signed Bleyendaal and promoted Holland from the academy although neither featured really that season. Hanrahan was firmly behind Keatley and could not get past him. Hanrahan was a couple of years older and was moving to a team that had just topped the Premiership table. The expectation was that he was likely to be behind Keatley and Bleyendaal for the 2015/16 season.

Healy has more game time than Hanrahan at this point and is firmly in the conversation to start in Europe. The outlook on Carbery is very much unknown. Healy has an incredible opportunity to stake a claim not only for the starting Munster jersey right now but, if next year's summer tour goes ahead, to be capped for Ireland in the next 12 months also.

Also, it didn't really work out so well for JJ, which I realise is totally different but can and will be pointed to by the negotiating team on the Munster/IRFU side if Healy's representatives go down that route.
Also, there's both Flannery and Crowley coming up fast in Munster, so Healy doesn't necessarily hold all the cards here.

Speaking of which what's the craic with flannery he looked the absoloute business in the u20 world cup but hasn't a cap as far as I'm aware. I know he's a fullback and that's more competitive here than out half but given how well some of the younger players have played from the off in surprised to have not seen him at all

He's made appearances off the bench this season.
In terms of new faces Munster have used Healy at 10 and Gallagher at 15 extensively.

Gallagher's likely long term injury will give Flannery an opportunity in 2021.

And last season too right? (albeit for 30 seconds)

Played Zebre last february and Dragons a few weeks ago. Think its just as you say bit more competition in back 3 so not getting a look in yet

I'd say Crowley or Flannery might have played yesterday but JJ needed minutes coming off injury. We can't argue that JvG isn't backing youth this season but the season will rest on Europe.

Extensively? Last night was only Gallaghers second start at 15 (Haley was 15 in the other 5 games). He's started 3 on the wing. That's nowhere near extensive.

Daly and Haley will be taking that spot for the rest of the season. Flannery may get a go during the 6N, but I don't see him getting much time this season.

D'oh. Scratch that, I meant back three.
Flannery will probably get onto the bench a few times this season.

Healy will almost certainly be given a pro deal at Munster so I don’t see that being an issue. I’d be more worried if it was a premiership offer as they’d be able to potentially match if not better Munsters offer.

I hope Healy pushes on and does well in Europe.

Then when Carbery comes back he starts at 15

    100%

Ireland need better options at full-back and I think it's a better place for Carberry to prolong his career. Plus it just makes sense for him personally. He would easily propel himself to be the starting 15 in green.

Healy may even be in a better position to challenge for the Irish 10 shirt as he will likely be a regular in Europe whereas Harry may only make the bench for Leinster.

Really fascinating insight into what George and the team do. Worthy of a stand-alone session, which is what we got. Wouldn't have learned half as much if the players were on. And we get to hear the players again so a win win!

Matt Gallagher had a scan on his shoulder and it's bad enough that he now needs to see a specialist.
