Have a wecharge card from vw with a credit so running it down before it expires. Those chagers are not on the we charge system.

    Thanks for that, very interesting.

Has anyone here who has used J14 since it went live with a Tesla/Taycan managed to draw over 150kW at a session?

Curious about that too. Ecars Anna siad...

"The initial figures on the app were theoretical maximums. The app has been updated to reflect more realistic values that EVs will experience when they charge there. Best regards, Anna. "

150kW is probably more realistic for most EVs, but if it's just to reduce calls from confused customers saying they're only getting 100kW or whatever from a 350kW unit then it's yet again ecars addressing the symptom, not the cause. Users need education, not bullshitting.

Also very disappointing if these 350kW capable units are maxing out at 150kW. Poor ioniq5 owners with their pointless 800V in Ireland.

I'm at an eCars DC 50kW CCS but only getting 27kW from it. The machine has an AC43 and a 50kW Chademo but neither are in use. Normally I'd be up at 47kW. I've 30% charge on the car at the moment.

Anyone know why that might be?

Where? Some sites have limited max power, your battery may be very cold too.

Shane Retail Park in Belfast. RC13. Not sure if it's eCars actually. Either way, I drove to Banbridge and got 47kW. Could be temperature although I had driven there so I'd be surprised.

    Probably a limited power place?

Yeah that charger is knackered, I got similar the other week.

Yes, known dodgy charger probably not limited supply issue, please report it or it will never get fixed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 894 ✭✭✭eclipsechaser

    Just reported it there. Thanks!

Interesting experience up North with eCars. Availability in Belfast was very different to the Republic of Ireland. Lots of chargers in use (very few available) and several broken ones. I'd feel a little worried if I were on a tight time schedule.

I used the eCars at Ballinaleck this evening. It’s got a wonderful layout: two pairs of chargers located on opposite sides of the site and not really visible from each other. I’m sure there are solid reasons for the site ending up like this but it’s really dim stuff.

I didn't see this before, from EV summit

    2022/2023

    43 hubs total

    T1 8 EVs

    T2 4EVs

    T3 3 EVs

It does not say how the 43 hubs will be split

  • Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

So technically... and literally, we've not got our first Tier 1 hub yet. Mayfield is 3 HPC and 1 FCP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,520 ✭✭✭cannco253

except the 3 HPC would only allow 1 car to charge at a time on Saturday

  • Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

They work perfectly at 2am every 3rd Tuesday on months without full moons.

Getting busier and busier out there.

Away the last few days and had to stop twice in Carrick on Shannon to charge. There is a 150kw and an older 50kw unit. First visit an eTron was on the 150 and an ID4 on the 50. Second time 2 Model 3s, one charging and one waiting while a Zoe used the AC43

I hope they are not calling Carrick a hub!?

Could the second M3 not use the CCS on the 50kW?

This shows why the HPC should have 2* CCS not the ridiculous inclusion of chademo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 632 ✭✭✭jusmeig

No because there was a Zoe using that one -> Not sure you can use AC43 + CSS at the same time on them older units?

The charging Model 3 was on the 150 which I did use, which is not 150, I would say its likely capped at 120.

I had 10% SOC and a warm battery, I should have got full speed but just got above 100, Gack...where are my Superchargers :D

Makes no sense. I've yet to see a "hub" stat where the HPC CHAdeMO has anything near the usage the 50kW CHAdeMO plug does.

    Last 2 days on Carrick-on-shannon:

    70kW CHAdeMO - 45 minutes of use

    50kW CHAdeMO - 1 hour 40 minutes of use

    50kW CCS - 1 hour 45 minutes of use

    150kW CCS - 5 hours 55 minutes of use.

70kW CHAdeMO isn't making Ecars any money

Taking every HPC the breakdown is this for the last 7 days:

CCS - 14 days of usage

CHAdeMO - 2 and a half days of usage.

Is Monasterevin the only place where they have a HPC with 2 x CCS chargers?

We do have a tier 1 hub at Mayfield, there is an announcement on FB that they will be taking the 50kW charger offline to add the 4th HPC unit. Looks like my theory that it was a temporary issue whilst they bedded in the new units was correct

As in J14 Mayfield? Yes,. its the only ecars HPC with 2 CCS plugs

  • Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

So we'll go from being able to charge 5 cars at once, to 4 cars at once... unless Ecars fix the HPC blocking the 2nd socket if 1 socket is in use.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,754 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

Yeah fingers crossed that ESB start replacing the Chademo with another CCS

The problem then is that there's a single point of failure for the Leafs, which is never fun

Ideally they'd put in a pair of HPCs with dual CCS and a pair of triple head 50kW units, so there's plenty of options for everyone

Of course that would look too much like a proper hub then. Might give people ideas

Mayfield going to a 4 HPC setup, just saw on FB.

Hopefully that will leave 3* CCS and 1* CCS+Chad unit.

I've been able to charge a couple of times there both times there was a second car on the other CCS charger that continued to charge. The first time they did have to restart their charge

Genuine question, do eCars get these things out of the discount bin? Or a dodgy seller on AliExpress?

Brand new 2x11kW post installed on Carlisle Road in Derry earlier this year. Had been down 3 times already for a few days at a time.

2 new chargers at the train station in Derry, slower speed but equals 4 x 7kW chargers. Installed barely a year ago, currently 3 out of 4 broken.

If you had a car with that kind of performance you'd reject it as a lemon.

I would not be surprised if they were getting them from the discount bin. Probably doing the typical Irish nonsense of trying to get a good deal on everything
