Increase the 13 frequency so, its utterly crap.

    It is being increased

What's the point in it going to IKEA? It's not the type of place that you would get the bus to bring your flat pack home with you!

I agree, a more sensible routing would be to turn right into Northwood and serve all the offices and apartments there, link up the Ballymun corridor with the Swords corridor and run it into the airport. Give a whole new swathe a link to the airport. And cover an area where there is people living and working with no bus. Turning left into IKEA serves very few and no houses.

What's the point of these ultra long running routes on low frequency 20 minute schedules, as the buses are going to be randomly spread out and you won't know if 5 will be along in a minute, or the next one won't be for an hour.

It's so Dublin Bus can pretend they're running a train service :D

they increased the frequency of the 4 and its still a mess due to it's ridiculous route, all bunches and gaps

But... but... but... MORE MORE MORE for Route 4!

I can't wait for their next announcements. 'Unlucky for some...!'

speaking as someone who lives on the 4 route near DCU, and has friends in sandymount and monkstown, it's great for that.
but for getting to bray - it's the dart from the city centre for us. i can't imagine myself getting a bus all the way?

There used to be three bus routes between Bray and the city centre the 45, 84 and the 145 but this has been cut back to only the 145 since network direct so there's definitely a demand for increased capacity on this route as the 145 is currently full and leaving people behind at bus stops. So room for extra capacity.

The run a bus from Bray to the city centre . A bus from the city centre to the airport via Ballymun.

A other route they could have added Airport, Ballymun , Griffith Ave , Clontarf Rd Dart.

ikea deliberately build their stores in places where people will have to drive to, they don't want good PT links to their outlets. you'll buy more if you know you'll be putting your purchases in a car rather than carrying them home on a bus or train.

Yes, and the 140 bus serves IKEA already, which more than caters for its workers and customers. The road from Ballymun to IKEA goes through wasteland already. Believe it or not people work in Northwood, dare I say more than IKEA!

I hope to god it will follow 140 route. Every single 140 going towards/leaving IKEA is standing room only after a couple of stops due to amount of people who can only get 140.
Its not just for the staff/customers at IKEA.

Does anyone know route it will take Southside, will it mirror the 4?

    More likely the 145

How will it serve DunLaoghaire then though? Would be a bit of a crazy route.

It's not serving Dun Laoghaire that was a miss understanding

There wouldn't be so much a problem if they ran the service with an adequate headway. Currently you could have two buses leaving the terminus at the same time if one is late and another is on time.

That would require more resources than running one one bus between Ballymun and Bray. If they had more resources which they don't they could run those alignments you mentioned although there isn't anymore room in the city centre to lay over buses. The only place I could think of is Merrion Square but buses coming from the Northside would be pretty much running empty like the 25/a/b, 66 and 67 already are south of the river.

The last time DB tried to route buses through Northwood, the residents there complained that they didn’t want buses driving through their quiet estate. There’s also the issue that the roads inside Northwood aren’t public roads (in the owernship sense) and the maintenance of them is paid for by the owners (commercial and residential) so DB would have to get permission to go there.

That part was hearsay from the local newspaper despite me quoting it.

It will essentially be a truncated 145 which will compliment the 4 bus from town onwards to IKEA.

No, the 4. It'll be running along the Ballymun Road corridor.

I think the 155 is proposed to run northbound via College Green, rather than via Pearse Street

    Really? Thats strange

The 140 is struggling with capacity, people constantly reporting that the 140 is full after the first few stops.

It's one of the routes that you would've expected capacity to be increased but it wasn't.

All the while both the 4 and the 13 are increasing/have increased capacity.!

It's a badly needed route however great for ballymun!

Funny thing is that the increase capacity is not really helping because they're often bunched up, even when leaving the depot, so you're getting one bus that's jammed and another behind it thats empty.

Yep, have seen this plenty of times with passing 27s that have recently got increased frequency. Often 3 abreast; 1 full, 1 partially filled, 1 empty.

if so and you are ITK its an absolute joke.
