Haven't bought it, but did you ever find out why you couldn't make card purchases off the eShop that time?

Believe it or not, no I haven't! Still cant use any cards at all or even Paypal. Only way I can add credit is via a Nintendo Eshop card.

To be honest I've been really lazy about it, never did contact Nintendo and it kind of slipped my mind - I'll shoot them one now and see what the story is.

I have the same issue but with PSN for some reason. Paypal and card won't work so I have to use revolut card.

Yeah it's weird, I think they've just flagged my account for some reason. I've tried everything from debit cards, credit cards, joint account cards, Revolut, Paypal, even other people's cards, none work.

I did used to change between the SA Eshop and Ireland, so maybe that's it. Although I haven't done that in a long long time.

Reached out to them anyway to see what the story is.

On the plus side, it has saved me quite a few quid in frivolous spends 😁

Might be time to dust off the sinden lightgun and install the nightly builds of PCSX2.

The horror of having recalibrate all the games in that light guns crisis collection!

Got my retrotink5x and a PS2 component cable. Heard it takes a bit of tinkering to get the PS2 looking good.

Let us know how you get on. It seems a very impressive little thing.

Did customs take their pound of flesh?

Glad to hear you managed to nab one, have fun! I really must update the firmware on mine actually to see if there's anything new.

Yeah got snared by customs on both of them.

There was a small arcade in the resort in Crete I was just at, not really an arcade just a few casino style/claw machines, two pool tables and a modern Cruis'n machine, then these!

Seems like a very specific set of pins for the cruddy arcade considering they could just slap in The Simpsons or something. Wonder if it was contracted out/third party as it was the only thing in the entertainment/activities that was paid in an all inclusive resort!

Nothing is getting past customs anymore. If they don't have the right docs, they go back!

I just paid the customs on my Krikzz Famicom RGB Blaster so hopefully next week. It's mad that it was posted from Sumy, East of Kyiv in Ukraine and actually got here.

So I set up the Retrotink5x with the PS2 and the new retrovision cables. I updated the retrotink to the latest firmware and used some recommended settings. Also turned on HDR10 which really makes the colours pop on the OLED.

Honestly this looks incredible. My PS2 has never looked this good. I think the old RGB cables werent the highest quality to begin with since they were Game brand and probably good enough for CRT. I'm seriously impressed.

Ah, don't do this to me!

I endured years of pressure from you lot to switch from Composite to RGB, and now that isn't good enough anymore?

    Feck it!

I'm going to go the other way, get the PS5 running through RF instead, try Gran Turismo 7 out as we might have seen it in the the early 90's... scanlines and domed crappy Black Diamond telly and everything!

Ah not to worry, this is mainly for us heathens who don't have the space for big monster CRTs anymore. You're still winning with your 29 inch trini 😁

I bought that thing from Harry Moores in 1996, in their opening sale in the Blanchardstown Centre!

I recall bringing it home, so so proud...

Plugging the Playstation and 3DO into it and being ever so happy, also using the Prologic surround amp to be extra spendy

So this is what an AI thinks my Egret 3 and Ridge Racer upright cabs would look like in an alternative post apocalyptic reality. The Egret 3 looks like it runs on diesel, but I'm into it 😀

And an AI generated story to go with them 😀

    FADE IN:

    EXT. ABANDONED CITY - DAY

The camera pans across a desolate wasteland, filled with rubble and debris. In the distance, we see a group of survivors walking towards an abandoned building, with a sign that reads "Arcade Emporium".

    CUT TO:

    INT. ARCADE EMPORIUM - DAY

The group enters the arcade, cautiously looking around at the dusty and cobweb-filled machines. Suddenly, one of them, MAX, spots a machine that looks like it's in working order.

    MAX

    (Excitedly)

Guys, check it out! It's a Ridge Racer machine!

The group gathers around the machine, inspecting it. After a moment of hesitation, MAX inserts a coin and the machine comes to life.

The group cheers as they watch MAX play the game. The sound of the game echoes throughout the abandoned arcade, a welcome distraction from the bleak surroundings.

As MAX continues to play, he notices that the machine is a bit different from the ones he used to play back in the day.

    MAX

    (Surprised)

Hey guys, check this out! This machine has a secret track!

The group looks on in awe as MAX navigates through the secret track. They realize that this machine must have been customized by someone who was passionate about the game.

As they continue to play, they hear a noise in the distance. MAX stops playing and listens carefully. The noise gets closer and they realize that it's a group of raiders.

The group quickly gathers their things and prepares to leave. But before they go, MAX takes one last look at the Ridge Racer machine.

    MAX

    (Smiling)

This was the best game I've played in a long time. Maybe we can come back and play again someday.

The group nods in agreement and they exit the arcade. As they walk away, they can still hear the sound of the Ridge Racer machine playing in the distance, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there can still be moments of joy.

    FADE OUT.

Thank god The Continuing Adventures of Ciderman got cancelled!

I caved. Paid my pound of flesh for a Pi Zero 2W on eBay there. The relief alone from no longer having to check pitracker all the time now almost makes it worth it.

Are you going to use that for the expansion cartridge for the mister based multi system?

What's the benefit of the cartridge actually?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,467 ✭✭✭Inviere

Yep, that's the plan. It's for a PI-MMS (MT32Pi expansion cart,) so the cores that support it will turn offer that sweet sweet midi sound. I'll add an m.2 sata drive internally then, and that'll finish it off for now...

Oh very nice! Does add a nice bit of extra authenticity to the thing too having a cartridge sticking out of the top of it.

There's a Twitter account called quest 64 official which is just constantly shitposting about how good quest 64 is. It's quite amusing at time.

Yesterday the account went on a wild one replying to onlyfans girls who were posting 'me or the ps5' and telling them with pictures of their extensive collection of quest 64 that they would choose quest 64 over them and a ps5.

Now there's a superman 64 official account with a friendly rivalry with quest 64.

Amazing cover of Aquatic Ambiance on an expressive keyboard that does vibrato when you wiggle the keys as well as a few other tricks.

This might be worth a look if you've a spare PS2 slim PSU knocking about(has to be a SCPH-70100 model).

I been to the Limerick Edition once, actually helped supply a few arcade cabinets to it. I honestly felt a bit underwhelmed it seemed very kid orientated (probably great if you brought the kids), but seemed to mostly consist of just a big LAN/Fortnite area, a small few trader stalls and then a few arcade machines that we brought and a small area of 5 or 6 Retro consoles, I've probably forgotten some details too as it was a few years ago. Looking at their website, their Dublin edition looks like a different kettle of fish however. Also incredibly nice people who I dealt with with regards to running the thing.

I'd love to head along to something like this if there were actual arcade machines but think I'd actually throw up from disappointment if it was just a line of Arcade1ups!

I think we, as an A&R Group, have better stuff, well Ollie does on his own, but even the rest of us have pretty great collections.

However, the one time I allowed my stuff to be used at a show resulted in some punk breaking my Virtua Gun for the Saturn!
