I wonder if unionists in the north think similarly about the prospect of joining a united Ireland?

I'd like to think they have exactly the same thoughts about anyone taking their country out of the UK and joining our already united Ireland.

What's the £20,000 actually worth at that stage? I mean could I buy a car or a loaf of bread for 20k?

Exactly an instant 20k for everyone means hello to overnight hyper inflation, for while. It may only have the perceived value of 5k if everyone starts splashing it around. House prices up 15k overnight also.

It's a silly question, and in reality there is x5 countries more likely to leave the EU than Ire, so in any case it would mean Ire not joining the UK (or 'Eng&Wales' as it may be known after Scotland leave), but instead re-joining a smaller more Nordic EU 2.0.

Perhaps consisting of Swe, Den, Eng, Wal, Scot, Czech, Hun, Gre & Ita.
Might even be worth introducing Iceland and especially Norway with all their lovely oil reserves. Swiss too with their mysterious full bank accounts.

So hypothetically, the UK leaves the ÈU and struggles for a few years but then PM Boris Johnson signs a free trade agreement with Trumps US, Canada, India, China, Australia. Italy leaves the EU, Spain, Portugal and Greece need a bailout, Germany gets fed up of subsiding the EU, Ireland's contribution increases dramatically, Trump imposes huge tariffs on EU exports badly affecting Ireland. The UK from a position of strength gets a free trade agreement with the EU but imposes tariffs on EU products. Unemployment in Ireland increases, the HSE is in crisis.
Ireland is offered the opportunity of joining the UK. This allows us a FTA with the US, EU, etc. The NHS would replace the HSE. We would still have the Irish soccer team, rugby team, the GAA etc. Overall, it looks like it would mean €20,000 per annum to every man, woman and child. Would you vote to join the UK?

The land and people are in Kilkenny. Waterford can go to hell before they can take over a square inch. Any political party that supports this land grab will sign its own death warrant in Kilkenny. How would Waterford like if their land was taken.

blackcard if Kilkenny went broke and couldn't afford hurleys anymore, if Waterford hit a bonanza and could shower goodies on Slieverue, would you vote to join Waterford? :pac:

sounds plausible I guess. 20 grand a head works out around €90billion.

Pay the British that much and they might let Ireland come back....maybe.

Was the whole Leitrim thing ever funny?

No. It’s not funny at all.

There are enough real counties and towns as it is without people making up fictitious places.
