If I attempted to grow a beard or mustache Mrs Facehugger would divorce me on the spot and who could blame her?

Do you work in IT support?

No. I work in an office but not I.T support. That's irrelevant anyway as you're looking for a stereotype.

I was referring to everyday life and what I see.

They're not for everyone. Some people can wind up looking like child molesters, particularly in combination with certain choices of glasses. Others can end up looking a bit non-working class. This is especially true if the hair is light in both colour and coverage.

I've worn a tache briefly in the past. I'm dark haired and quite hairy so it was decent but it did make me feel a bit like an angry union rep for some reason. I think it added about 10 years to my age too so I just wear a big, black beard now.

"wherefore it was ordained that no manner of man, who would be accepted for an Englishman, have any beard upon his mouth, that is to say, that he have no hair upon his upper lip, so that the said lip be shaven once at least within two weeks, or of equal growth with the nether lip; and if any man be found among the English contrary hereunto, it may be lawful for every man to take them and their goods as Irish enemies, and to hold them to ransom as Irish enemies."

As with most things in life it depends on the person doing the thing.
In this case the moustache wearer, some men exhibit the moustache, some inhabit it.

Facial hair doesn’t suit most men. Moustaches almost never. Makes them look like a dweeb at best, and a sinister sex criminal at worst.

Ah, the fecking sinister sex criminals. Giving the cuddly harmless sex criminals a bad name

I hate when you offer someone a sincere compliment on their moustache and suddenly she's not your friend anymore.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,019 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Like many things, I think confidence comes into it. Letting oneself be discouraged by people slagging your mustache is never going to help with that. Folks admire men who can carry themselves well, regardless of facial hair.

When we were young, we all fancied Kevin in Coronation Street due to his Tasche and mullet.

It was acceptable in the 80's.
