Connacht need to promote SOB the Third to the bench so as to maintain a numerical supremacy in the Sean O'Brien wars.

John Muldoon kicking that conversion was like a parting gift... to Leinster.

Connacht have always had an advantage of being more motivated than Leinster until now.

Lads, we're so lucky. Starting from 5:15 on Saturday we've two really high quality full blooded provincial derby's back to back with the potential for test level intensity.

4 hours of top quality entertainment.

    I can. not. wait.

Yeah it will be a nice curtain raiser before the main event at 23:30.

I mean... yeah, I'll defo be watching that albeit probably a bit worse for wear at that stage.

Good to see a Blackrock College man captaining Connacht. And with his school buddy Buckley beside him in the front row. What dreams are made of

Blackrock have a long history of mining the finest talent of Ballina Co. Mayo for their senior cup assaults but hey we in Connacht are getting used to Leinster needing our finest rugby products to turn them from European losers to winners!!
I thought Buckley went to Roscrea after being moulded by Creggs RFC Co. Roscommon?
I always wondered how the goiys wouldn't feel tainted having cup success with all these Mayo men and Roscommon men diluting the blue bloods??
Sure I suppose they are all propbably playing hurling in Cula now trading the traditional boat shoes and chinos for check shirts and wrangler jeans!!!

twice I've tried to post something witty in this thread and failed miserably....so I'm going to stop trying...

but honestly this has the potential to be a great game..... it also has the potential to be a one sided sh!tfest..

but with Sexton playing it really could even everything up..

To all the visiting Leinster fans, win loose or draw, enjoy your trip out west...

    That is not acceptable.
Totally against the spirit of this thread.
    Retract and insult please.

They feel much the same as Connacht fans when more guys from outside the province won the Pro12 in 2016 than from within it. That is not one iota at all. Very welcoming bunch in Williamstown, it’s why they keep the boarding school open. Could opportunity for the Ballina lads to meet the mad Russians and Americans who enter that place
Not many up in Cuala now I’m afraid. Hurling still a bit of a novelty in the capital. There are however 2 lads from the school who now have 5 all Ireland winners medals each. Not bad for a school of west brits

So I came down to Galway this evening and decided to try some of the local cuisine. What a surprise I got when I saw who was serving me!

Honestly can't recall a build up thread that I have enjoyed as much as this one. If the game tomorrow is half as good, we will be in for an absolute cracker!

I can't believe, as a Contact fan, it has taken so long for this to happen but -

Was wondering why Leinster went completely full strength for this, but reading the paper there it says that the reason is due to a 6 day turn-around between Munster and Euro game against Wasps.
That makes perfect sense now, send the full outfit out for a very good match against Connacht at full strength, great test of where hey are at, and then second string against Munster in the Aviva, we know the second string had a good outing against Munster last season, and then full strength again for Wasps.
Really looking forward to this match this evening, has the makings of being the match of the league so far, though Connacht v Scarlets was a cracker and Scarlets v Leinster was very exciting too.

Didn't realise we had camera technology that long ago.

Here's something more recent with Leinster and Connacht:

I’m off out for the day but I just wanted to compliment everyone involved in this thread. If the game is anything like it then it’ll be very entertaining.

    Enjoy the game all.

Re John Muldoon and that kick....
He played 300+ games for Connacht
He put his club loyalty before his career, and Irish ambitions..
    He was a fearless leader...
    ...but above all else.....

He had a facking outrageously brutal scoring record in the interpros....

In all that time, after all those games he has now retired and his total career points scored against all of Munster, Leinster and Munster combined is 2 points.....

    (Ninja edit for typo)

    2 points? (Conversion kick)

Nah, he convinced the ref that there was a new rule introduced when an additional bonus point was awarded when a #8 converts

I think his talent and rugby ability put paid to his Irish ambitions.

    And Jamie Heaslip.

    *MOD NOTE*

The thread has been well humoured till now. When the game starts no messing or winding, let the needle be on the pitch
