    I'm a long-time fan of the band Yes, but their 1978 album Tormato is not on my favourites. For the cover they engaged the services of design team Hipgnosis, who had worked on many great albums including Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. With Tormato, however, it's fair to say that they were not at their best.

    There are conflicting claims for just who threw the tomato at the proposed design, but everyone agreed a splat of tomato actually improved the result ... barely. :o

    I reckon Throbbing Gristle knew exactly what they were thinking when they came up with the idea for '20 Jazz Funk Greats'. The copy I have has the first picture below on the cover, with the second on the back, but the second one (with the naked and apparently dead body) was the original cover.

    I have that album with the poster. They knew exactly what they were doing. Cosey said in her autobiography they were deliberately emulating the style of cheesy budget compilation albums in the hope that unknowing punters would buy it and be freaked out by TG's music.
