Is any one else finding the series very flat this year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 436 ✭✭incentsitive

Have said since about week 2-3 Jackie is going to win it. The rest of them are absolutely useless.

Jasmine is the sort of bluffer that KPMG or Accenture or BearingPoint send out to meet a client, tell them what they want to hear and charge them €1000 a day for.

The whole show is a complete charade though - Alan Sugar knows who he wants to be his business partner once he sees their business plans, and then it is a case of waiting until they trip themselves up so he has a chance to fire them. That was why he rang the people to come back a couple of weeks ago - he knew who he wanted to fire. It is TV entertainment, not something to get worked up about because it is a complete charade!

I really hope it is not the best and brightest of Britain, because help us all if it is!

I wouldnt be surprised if the series has nearly run its course. The winners are hit and miss whether they are successfull after the show so that is not a factor for sugar being in it.

I think Tom managed to save himself when he reminded Suralan that he already had built a business and managed to feed his family with it. Sugar has always had nearly contempt for 'corporate' candidates, as if they have money handed to them rather than grafting for it, so it was a good move on Tom's part and it worked.

I have to agree with comments about Jasmine's attitude towards Sabrina at the end, she could have shown some professionalism.

I agree, because, given the fact he has failed the last two tasks(teamleader of one of them) which were perfect for him given his background, Sugar still seems to be willing to give him a chance.

His CV from the outside, seems impressive, apparently running three successful businesses & has built up a property portfolio, writing two books along the way also, not bad for a 28 year old. I would take that with a pinch of salt though.

He seems very slow off the mark in most tasks and I cant think of one task where he was impressive. Out of all the candidates, I think he is one of the weakest.

Camilla Ainsworth - Started strongly but has died in recent tasks and been involved in some shocking marketing decisions which have cost her team. Runs a fairly basic milk brand company & is a failed law student which she likes everyone to know about, as if its something to be proud of, even mentioning it on her business website. Wannabe instagram model also. Expect her to fired next week if she is on the losing side

Khadija Kalifa - seems to think that because she is a mother this gives her more life experience & as a result more of an authority when it comes to the tasks her team is working on. Frequently clashes with her team mates, limited in the ideas she brings to the table. I expect her to be one of the favourites to go aswell if she is on the losing side next week. Surprised she has made it this far.

Daniel Elahi - Seemed to be completely out of his depth in the beginning and hiding in the shadows but has started to come on strong over the last few weeks. Can't help the feeling though that he is lacking in experience and winging it sometimes. Classes himself as a Philantropist and has carried out some charity work which are attractive traits in a partner, integrity and ethics. Former banker though and has not done much since. A dark horse who I expect to be in the final.

Jackie Fast - The favourite in my opinion at this stage. Although quite argumentative and patronising at times, shows an ability to get stuck in and pull results out of the bag even when the tasks are going against her which demonstrates resilence & determination, probably two of most important characteristics in business. Seems very results driven and has a no nonsense approach to her work. Only downside is that she seems to frequently clash with others which Sugar may view as a risk.

Sabrina Stocker - Alot of potential but a bit green, if Sugar was willing to invest time and money in her, she could be the best thing to come out of the show. Maybe this process is coming a little bit too soon for her in her career but I still would view her as a strong candidate. Bags of initiative and highly intelligent but a bit rough around the edges. Expect to make the final but fall at the final hurdle.

Sarah Ann Magson - Probably the shows enigma, director of a law firm, have to question why she is involved in this process in the first place. Seems happy to hide in the shadows also and lacks creativity. The tattoos and eyebrow piercings have not been missed and will affect her ability to be taken seriously. Seems strangely subservient for someone who is a director of a law firm, this needs to be questioned. Dont think she really brings anything new to be table. After Camilla & Khadija, I expect her to go.

Sian Gabbidon - Sugar alluded to the fact she was a silent assassin earlier in the programme & she very much showed this last night by stategically siding with Jamine about why they failed in the task and then ganging up on Sabrina. However, I expect her to be in the final and although she is consistent, she is lacking the x-factor. Probably third or fourth favourite.

Breakdown of odds in my opinion:

    Jackie Fast - 1/2
    Sabrina Stocker - 4/7
    Daniel Elahi - 5/6
    Sian Gabbidon - 11/10
    Tom Bundy - 9/4
    Sarah Ann Megson - 6/1
    Camilla Ainsworth - 15/1
    Khadija Kalifa - 20/1

Re Sarah Ann Magson, I know ladies look different with make-up on, but at the start of the show, when Camilla was doing her awful Scottish accent, she was talking to someone and I literally had to rewind it to see who it was. I thought it was a mate or a new contestant. Turns out its Sarah Ann. I literally had no clue it was her - it was like a different person!

I noticed the same and she was actually better looking without makeup

Any eejit can have a property portfolio, plenty of people around 2007 were quick to tell about their property portfolio and are still in negative equity! :D

I think Sabrina may end up this year's Alana, i.e people will continuously put her down and dismiss her, but she could end up the last one standing.

I like Sabrina, she doesn't seem to be as bitchy as some of the others and the rest of them seem to gang up on her but I didn't think she was as strong a candidate as Jasmine.

This week seemed incredibly scripted when the office managers asked for the two who they had already talked to, and only then decided to buy.

Well Sirralan had an ad seeking 2019 candidates at the end of last nights program so it is going for one more year at least.

It has gone a bit stale from its heydays though Ive been saying that for a few years now yet still I always watch it :o

I don't think the format is stale at all, simply the contestants after series 11 onwards (barring Alana's year) haven't been very good.

Also viewing figures are still holding steady at around the 7 million mark.

Having professional people doing professional things on TV isn't entertaining.

But it looks like Sir Sugar is picking CVs over performances. I like Tom but he has never done anything impressive though he comes across quite nice on the show. He should have gone.

Defintely something in that, the quality of candidates has been on the slide for some years now.

Well being honest, in this world of venture capital, crowd funding etc there is no need to go on a show like that and be reduced to the menial tasks that they get reduced to in the name of TV, on the absolute off chance that you might get some of Alan Sugar's money.
And then there's Karen "no matter what you do its wrong" who managed to get West Ham to leave a great stadium to play their football in the worst stadium in England. Far more costly mistake than any candidate has ever made!

Nice team won! Sarah Ann, Daniel and Sabrina are nice, likeable people: i hope one of them wins. The others are dumb or nasty or Jackie!

    WTF Jackie gone!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,740 ✭✭✭Mousewar

Really not sure what the point of the tasks is anymore. They have no impact on the firings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭artvanderlay

Jackie's gone. I'm done! Utter bull****. Fcuk you Sugar!

Yeah I got that. Didn't think you could make lemonade out of beetroots. Sounds disgusting anyway.

Sugar would have known their businesses before this, the decision was personal not business in my opinion, maybe he felt she was already established & maybe too highly strung.

Crazy decision if purely business related

Khadija is so useless, she lost that task but some how Jackie gets fired?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,807 Mod ✭✭✭✭yerwanthere123

I feel sorry for Khadija, I think this "aggressiveness" thing has been completely overstated. She was a bit full on the first two or three weeks but she's been fine since, bit unfair for her still to be labelled as such and I felt bad for her.

She reminds me of one of those unhinged Eastenders actresses. It was a real low blow to Jackie that she lost to her and useless Camilla. Nasty people...cant wait for them to be torn to shreds in the interviews. I hope Daniel wins...he's got a sense of humour at least. Sabrina second...she's a nice kid. They are the only two with a bit of class. **** the rest!
