Went back to Ballyhoura this afternoon to redo the loop from Sundays Biking Blitz at a slightly more leisurely pace.

Does anyone know if or when they're ever going to open up the new trails properly? 2 of them were used for the Gravity Enduro last August (Skyline and dunno what the other is called) but they're blocked off since. The trails are complete i think, so why are they still not open 6 months later?

Had decent weather window so did ballinastoe to djouce and back yesterday. with one of the lads from the club. didnt do much in bstoe, half a loop then up to wicklow way. New path replaces sleepers for a lot of it. Kept out of the way of walkers and had no hassle. sad to day I enjoy the climb to the summit, conditions were decent.. very windy but dry.

the grassy descent into djouce really is one of the best bits of mtb on this island. again keeping well away from any walkers. Took it a bit steadier as was on the hardtail so not as much margin for any larger hidden drops. we then dropped into stage 5 or the djouce derby. This was running absolutely perfectly, there's obviously been some work done on it. still mudbath of roots up top, loamy and near dry at the bottom. back up then as the weather was starting to turn. headwind up the grassy ascent, then we went around the summit. Then dropped left into an open mountain section which is either "the hulk" or 6 nations according to strava. you cross a fast running stream and the. traverse to the red fire road at bstoe.

Finished on the lower half of ravens which I have to say is fantastic.

    Great day on the bike.

I saw the bike trails in Ticknock while walking recently. They look amazing, like something from another country :)

I can’t understand though, for years we were told we couldn’t have things like this because of litigation etc. Only in 2016 a woman successfully sued for falling on the Glendalough Spinc boardwalk and hurting her knee. this was eventually overturned.

So, perhaps we are turning sort of corner in terms telling people to do outdoor activities “at your own risk”?
