But this one shows the panel saw what has to be seen : no bad intent

    Bizarre take

No bad intent but it's bad for his next suspension.

    Eh...

Between this suspension and threadwell not being cited you haven't shown to have an understanding of the framework by which these incidents are assessed.

So I suggest you wait and read the panels report before doing logical gymnastics.

Treadwell was cited and judgement should be out today

So the author above will see his utter certainties are not shared by the panel, if it considers as long of a suspension as Big Papa. But he won't swallow this, of course.

Anyone know if Carty has an injury or why he's not even in the squad for tomorrow night's game?

im quite happy to hold up my hands on this.. ive been following various twitter accounts and the ulster thread and there was no mention anywhere that i saw of a citing from threadwell within the required time period.

but lets see how it goes.

as for papaliis suspension, i certainly doubt you will find the phrase "no indication of intent" in the panels report when its released.

papali'i got the full 6 week suspension and had 1 week reduced because he showed remorse and cooperated with the hearing ie they accepted the decision

he didnt get 1 week reduced because there was an absence of intent

Delighted for Boyler. He's already a leader and is consistent as ****.

    Squad update
Following today’s team announcement, the Connacht medical team have released the latest squad update:

Caolin Blade (hamstring) and Tiernan O’Halloran (adductor) will integrate into squad training next week.

Tom Farrell (knee) will see a specialist following his injury last weekend.

Stephen Fitzgerald (knee) had a minor knee procedure this week and will aim to return to training in early January.

Oisin Dowling (back) will step up training involvement over the coming weeks.

Niall Murray (shoulder), Ben O’Donnell (knee), Conor Dean (thumb), Cillian Gallagher (shoulder) and Peter Robb (groin) remain unavailable.

All players and staff returned negative results in this week’s PCR testing.

Future captain. I know he captains tomorrow but he is the guy going forward as far as I'm concerned.

Five weeks seems fair enough. The one week mitigation is a bit ridiculous given it's a second offence in a season but that's common anyway.

In general I'm not a big fan of the mitigation reductions in bans as they can often be a bit ridiculous. However I would say that this one is listed as being one week for "Abramhams co-operation and remorse shown" so the fact that it's his second offence in recent times was not a factor

Also the pedant in me would like to note that it was technically his second offence in 2 seasons not 1 :D (but I know what you meant)

That's a piss poor side IMO. Weakest we've sent out in a long while

Let's hope the Ospreys are disinterested because we could struggle. Arnold needs a good game @13. The bench apart from the 2 props and Butler is very inexperienced. Reilly and Fitz need to control it.

    I can't believe it's not Butler
Wow, we're going to have a busy end of season with all of these postponed matches. Hopefully they can all be accommodated, Pro14's plan is a 0-0 draw if the match can't be rescheduled. Given that our postponed matches were against Benetton, Dragons & Ospreys, that's 3 winnable matches that could potentially become draws.

fairly inevitable that some of these games wont be replayed as there will be more postponements.

Youse are going to be really struggling with all these rearranged fixtures later in the season.

When Ulster had our game away to Treviso cancelled because of Covid last season, they just gave us a draw. Hope it doesn't come down to that.

I’d say we’re going to see quite a few draws chalked up. It seems unfair but as it’s not really the team cancelling fault it’s hard to know what would be.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,395 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

At international level, during this Autumn Cup malarkey, the cancelling team has been "awarded" a 28-0 loss.

Yeah I agree that's why I disagree with the way the Nations cup is doing it where a 28 - 0 win is awarded to the team who didn't have the covid cases, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that right now I kinda wished that is how the Pro14 was doing it.

Either way all the best to the Ospreys players and staff hope they all make a full recovery

Guessing they kept it low profile because it was such a howler by the TMO.

I can't recall an incident like it where the TMO essentially over turned the ref

Jesus we are having no luck whatsoever with postponements. We have the most postponed games of any team and to make things worse none were postponed because of positive teams in the Connacht squad.

These postponements are going to be a disaster given the Heineken Cup final and PRO14 final we’re already scheduled for. Going to be hard to defend our Heineken Cup crown if we’re going to have three 0-0 awarded
