He's a bit creepy too the way he goes swimming with his grandson off that yacht. Obviously a groomer.

who the fcuk buys these microwave bags of rice?

you can buy 1kg of basmati rice in tesco for only about a euro.

    10 mins and its done.

Bought a sack of Tilda Basmati 20kg (sack) in the local asian shop for €43 lasted me and the Mrs 8 months and counting and only about one third remaining.

Uncle Bens is a rip off.

Some people were complaining that the Milky Bar kid was white.

They remind me of my late Grandaunt. No matter what the fcuk you did, you could never please her, she always found the negative or a fault in everything.

A fraction of the population would have been following this.

So when a normal person walks into Tesco and looks for some Uncle Ben's, they will see Ben's Original and probably think its the Tesco own brand ripoff but at Uncle Ben's prices.

Get woke, go broke is gojng to hit them hard.

Fcuk Tesco, you can buy a 20kg sack of rice in the Chinese shop on Capel Street for about a penny.

but the microwave pouches are done in 2 minutes rather than 10 minutes and involved no washing up.

If you're ok with eating shit microwave food then fill your boots. I'll sacrifice the extra 8 minutes for something real.

Seems like a poor deal. a 10kg bag of basmati in tesco is 11 quid.

hmmm I cant find 10Kg Tilda basmati rice on Tesco.ie but I did find 10Kg for £22 in the UK still more expensive.

    Still fantastic value for money.

Can I still buy Levi Roots Reggae reggae sauce?

I actually bought a bag of the Asian stuff for €42, and got the TEsco one on special for 9.99, because I wanted to compare quality.

Then I used two identical saucepans (borrowed one from the sister-in-law, she has the same set).

Then I place one litre of water in each pot and brought it to the boil on two back gas rings on the cooker, they're identical KW.

While waiting for the water to boil, I weighed out 100grams of each brand of rice. I then added 2 litres of water to two basins and rinsed the two lots of rice for the same length of time, then emptied and repeated the process, then drained the rice into two identical sieves and let them stand for the same length of time.

When the water reached boiling point, I immediately and simultaneously emptied each sieve into each pot. I then added 1 level teaspoon of salt to each pot. Then I stirred ONCE, to disperse the salt, without removing more starch from the rice. I then covered both pots and left them to simmer for 11 minutes, whereupon I checked the rice in both pots to see were they done yet.

After one more minute, I decanted both pots into identical colanders and let them drain.

Then I put the rice on to identical plates, both heated for the same length of time from the same kettle of boiling water.

    Now for the taste test:

I have to say, they looked identical on the plates, insofar as the rice wasn't sticky, but nicely cooked and soft but not soggy. But there's no doubt, one was definitely superior, with a nice taste. While the other was sort of, meh! You know, still has that 'watery' taste.

Unfortunately, I'm fncked if I can remember which was which.

Uncle Ben's rice is actually low quality, fast to cook, etc. The rice you can buy in Adil, Lidl, Tesco is much better. I use them myself and avoid paying extra for a named brand that isn't up to my standards.

No, I have seen them, bought them and tasted them. There is no transition in texture from brittle hard to strong chew to finish. Instead it starts on a medium solid to soft chew very quickly. The flavour.... just isnt the same. Save your money and find something different. Its the same packaging but different cheaper ingredients.

and why exactly should we consider this guy the oracle when it comes to cooking rice???

That's nothing, after years of trying my blackheads have all disappeared! Must have a look at the old Nivea or whatever to see what they're called now. Probably heads-of-color.

Anyway, enough of the hilarious posts from me, there's knittin' to be done.

It's this sort of ingrained racism that's holding society back... something... something... historical prejudices... bla bla bla! :pac:

I stupidly read their manifesto with the “we listened, we learned, we changed” rhetoric and it says they’ll be giving scholarships to aspiring Black chefs. So basing something completely on race. Isn’t that a bit... racist?

Has there been any campaign to replace the Notre Dame and Boston Celtic's logos yet ?

    Now they are offensive.
