Probably the most entertaining pundit ever on rte... Christ the young brigade would bore the balls off a statute

He will be missed big time. True professional on and off the studio chair and never faltered.

A good pundit, not a great pundit.

If his retirement means we'll be seeing more of Damien Duff then I'm sorry to see Eamo go.

TV3/Virgin Media or whatever they are called are launching a sports channel?  No doubt he's gonna end up there with a bigger pay packet.  We ain't seen the last of him on TV that's for sure baby!

Will this change the tone of the rte panel for good?

How many came on and criticised (baseless at times) because they played follow the leader?

I can think of a couple. Sadlier and Duff. I even had to turn off the panel with Hamann on it, early on this season. he was just joining in on the act, talking a certain amount of rubbish about Liverpool's chances in the CL.

If Duff is going to continue on RTE, I'll be switching off. Dunphy was good but terrible recently blowing wind up Giles ar5e

Roy Keane will take his place after a move from ITV.

I've a vague memory of that chatshow he did, it was quite good, but his mistake as he acknowledged was going head to head with The Late Late Show.

Sadlier/Andrews would be alright looking forward. Factor in Kerr and we’re in business

Absolutely atrocious football pundit: a spoofer of the highest order.

But not a bad podcast presenter.

Not sure about these two tbh.

Competent but lacking any sort of personality.

This is about 10-15 years overdue. I actually like Eamon as an interviewer, and have started listening to his podcast, but the format of getting a pundit to cause an argument by saying something controversial, no matter how stupid, is long past its sell by date. Now if someone can just take out Joe Brolly, RTE punditry will be in a healthier place

Have they signed up Hope Solo on a 5 year deal?

The fact they are not Damien Duff is a plus

Get more intelligent punditry from Han Solo

'He's the fella who left his wife and ran off with a young one'

You don't get that on the BBC and Sky Sports.

They’re alright, what else have we got both capable of a cynical sneer and better than anyone else that’s been tried and tested.

Dunne and Doyle don’t do anything for me either

The football pundit for people who didn't know anything about football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,743 ✭✭✭Wanderer2010

Clown. Couldn't hold an opinion for more than 10 seconds, he loved Roy Keane after the whole Siapan affair and even defended the thug when he ended your mans career with that tackle but now he hates him. Make you bloody mind up Eamonn! Then hes on the Late Late Show every year whinging about how bad the country is and how its run by evil dictators. Heres an idea then- FCUK off and love somewhere else...

Shame, great entertainment if you are not looking for proper football analysis.
Met him once as well and gave him a kiss.

This has been doing the rounds a lot lately and has inspired the creation of a bunch of internet memes to go with it.

Didi Hamann is sizing up to be the cranky one nicely. When he literally shakes in his seat with fury it's wonderful to behold.
