Will the hearing tomorrow still go ahead? I don't see how tbh. Kavanaugh will be questioned with regards to Dr. Ford, but surely he needs to be questioned on other allegations also? There's not much time to prep for those at this time.

Trump nominated him, therefore this is entirely on Trump.

That he was manipulated by others is a problem for him, not an excuse.

Trump has a news conference scheduled for later, so that might be worth tuning in to.

Hey, if you want to get really tinfoil hat, maybe it's a conspiracy to discredit Trump through ensuring he nailed his colours to the mast of a judge the GOP knew to be dirty (again, I point back to those contrived testimonies from 60+ women who apparently knew Kavaunagh). They just had to buy time, ensure the dirt came to light & suddenly Trump is compromised in sticking with the judge.

Obviously daft conjecture, but as said above it's strange to see the GOP running out of road with this increasingly toxic nomination, yet still persisting with this narrative to jam the nomination through. Surely at this stage doing so would be political suicide with November on the horizon

Would agree with that. I suspect by Midnight American time, you might get a few Republican senators distancing themselves for it.

I don't even think its Trump totally at fault here, there is serious Koch brothers money behind Kavanaugh and a sizable Bush element of the party (who loath Trump) who wanted Kavanaugh and went to bat for him.

This is true. I had also read that this effort was spearheaded by Don McGahn.

The real conspiracy theory is about how the seat became available in the 1st place.

Kennedy suddenly announces his retirement giving Trump the shot to fill the seat before the mid-terms..Nothing whatsoever to do with Kennedy Jr being a key player in the Trump Organisation getting funding via his employer , Deutsche Bank or him then moving to another investment house that is the prime lender behind the Kushner Real-estate Albatross in NYC..

It funny. Trump claims all the credit when things go right (jobs numbers etc) but when anything goes wrong you have plenty of people willing to give him the benefit and blame either the DNC or the GOP in some vast conspiracy that he was simply a patsy in.

Either he is at fault, or he is the most compromised and useless POTUS ever.

Its the strangest of hills to die on really. They could have found numerous creditable conservative judges who would have done there bidding.

It might not be that easy to find creditable judges anymore, certainly not overnight. Think how many elite boys were on such "trains" and mad parties and how it impacts their vetting.
Could be easier with female candidates I suppose.

Judge Kavanagh's opening statement for the hearing tomorrow(?) this was obviously before this latest revelation.

I don't know how if nothing else there will be a vote on Friday to confirm Bret Kavanagh. I mean there are serious questions that he has to answer or explain.

That's a good point, if they try and force someone else through they need to be sure they are whiter than white.

Obviously they looked at ladies when the vacancy came round last time, but the only one that was seriously considered was Barrett. She was much more popular with various bases of the republican party than Kavanaugh only really seemed to excite the Neo -con element.

On one side, she probably does not have skeletons in her background, the base love her, young, however Collins probably would not want her and Trump thought she was an odd ball when they met.

    Over to you Mitch.

I don't know if mitch McConnell drinks but if he does he might be helping his home States bourbon sales right about now.

That might be the first tweet I have read where I did not see the dire Krassenstein brothers and the even more awful Jacob Wohl spam his tweet for likes and its still a horrific experience.

edit...and obviously wrong as to be expected.

On a conference call a WH spokeswoman is calling what the democrats are doing is akin "to joe McCarthy" I mean that's exactly what this mess needs is a comparison to Joseph McCarthy.

    Shots fired!

Ps - Trump criticizing anyone of failed relationships is shockingly ironic

Avenatti's been trying to get a public reaction out of Trump for a long time. I'm not sure what he has in store but third-rate he is not. It also looks like Trump wants to play a bigger role in this process. He also has a press conference at 10:00PM Irish time. I think this shítshow of a nomination process is going to get even crazier.

John McCain dying seems to have softened senator grahams spine a bit. He's a disgrace at the moment.

Some emails that were not provided under Bush Secrecy Rules, bad joke about the boat they rented's name and a what goes away stays away apology for getting blind drunk and aggressive, seems like a stand up fella for the Supreme Court!:

Is that boat named what I think it is ? You can see why he didn't want these released.

Maybe it's my white as the driven snow soul, but I don't get it. "Su Ching', no matter how I say it.

Edit, I guess it must be "Su-king".

Avenatti not backing off. Said there are two witnesses.

Alternative letter signed by women saying this was not the Kavanaugh they knew and never heard of Swetnick.
