Trying to buy Amazon Fire Stick and have added a UK address as they do not deliver here.
When I select the UK address, the prices jumps from the Deal price to the standard price
I created a new Amazon account and the same thing happens.
    Any ideas ?

Prime discount only applied on very last stage of buying, ie confirm address, confirm card, review and then it shows up. You can see if that’s issue, even if you buy by mistake, cancel it straightaway.

Edit: just tried with Uk address and it shows as 24.99 with 15£ off discount applied.

One hing I have noticed. Since updating my prime home address to the UK(to access the UK Prime library) none of my orders are being charged the Irish vat rate.

    Great advice.
Just got my order and even managed to order a second one in a separate order.

There's the Sony A7 with kit lens 28-70mm, you can also claim cashback from Sony for 170e, so it's a really good price for the smallest full frame out there :)

And it was actually £500 on the first 30 minutes of the Prime day!!

Great deal, but then you look at the cost of the other Sony Full Frame lenses and you realise how insanely expensive they are and the whole thing would require too much of an investment, even though I'd love one.

Some day if I win the lotto.

So folks, as the dust settles, and your credit card starts to cool down, tell us what you got, and whether it was actually a bargain (check camelcamelcamel)

(BBC were reporting last night that many products were no cheaper than at other times of the year)

Very true and here's a great example against the current non deal price: ;)

Just ordered the £99 chromebook as a gift for an elderly person. If it's as good as the Lenovo N22 I bought for the same price a couple of years ago they should be delighted.

Got the sea of Thieves bundle with the extra games/controller and stand.. Not too bad for 199gbp.. Lowest from camelcamelcamel was 312.. Can probably sell the games a get a few months of game pass.

Also got a 1tb hdd, but it wasn't discounted.. Got it 10 pound due to a stack of 5 pound promos I got for a late delivery.. Which still hasn't arrived :(

Bought 2 X Ring security cams for £140 each, they sell for €230 on ring.com. Was bit of a panic buy with seconds to go.

Need to check now if I got a good deal or not.

It was down that low the last time it was on sale, I think it was April. Basq bought one and used some vouchers that he had. I remember because I had vouchers too and was going to buy one for a relative.
But it was definitely the first time it was that low, and it was only for a day or so.

I only bought shoes, that I don't think were discounted any more than they have been before, but I want to try them and the price was decent. I can always send them back.
And I bought an essential phone from amazon.com but that is still on sale, so I don't think that had anything to do with the amazon prime day.

Right, so on the homepage of Amazon US there is now even a 'teleshopping' live stream. Consumerism galore.

No prime membership discount then? I didn't see it, or did I miss it?

I think that I would have been happier if I wouldn't have known it sold for £500.
    Thanks! Ha

I ordered one before the prime deal started. Haven't received it yet☹️. In the tracking it says attempted delivery but alas no notice from them, no phone call and no record from my cctv that they tried to deliver the item! Seems like the stories about iparcel is true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,200 ✭✭✭deadl0ck

Actually - I think GLS are worse. My last delivery came through them and they had the parcel for a week before delivering it. When the driver arrived he actually complained to me that he had to drive all the way to my house as it's a rural location.
I don't think Amazon use GLS though...

Is it or all now all prime day orders? PrimeDay have fixed retail price, so they change the base price accordingly...

No it seems all orders. I ordered some kindle books before Prime day sale and they didnt have the vat adjusted either.

They've adjusted the VAT rate on certain products depending on your address for years now. Books are one of the products it doesn't change on because there's no VAT on them in Ireland.

Kindle books arent classed as books per say though and are subject to vat.
