Sorry, for some reason I never copped that those two cars were being sold by different dealers.

The BMW is a former diplomatic car. I don’t know about the other one. Were it being sold by the same dealer I would just presume that it was there for the same reason.

Most of the relatively new ones being sold are diplomatic/embassy cars.

It won’t have been paid so can’t be reclaimed.

BMW is more than likely from the states or Canada I'd say.

My old car, I sold it about 5 years ago with NCT and tax, on 12k miles, for €350

It was also completely original at that time

    Miss it terribly!

How much did you buy it for if you dlipped it for 350?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,074 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

    I got it for nothing

    That's good flipping

Still lost over 2k in the investment if you had kept it.

What's the chance he'll get 2.5k for it?

Well, maybe if there was a padre pio sticker on it.

Hard to know whether it's a scammer or simpleton, or both :D

If you could convince the seller to put a fresh NCT on it, it would be alot of car for the money (1k euro). Looks clean from here anyway:

    Great spot.
Hard to sell though. Most folk will find it hard to stomach paying more for tax than the car.

Look at the sellers name. English is not first language. But I'd be getting a full check done on the car & finance status. ;)

I actually posted this yesterday but deleted it.

Not saying this is the case here but I've heard it happen several times.

Buy car on PCP, don't pay a cent back, sell car. New owner has car repossessed because they don't actually own it.
    seller is long gone..

Who wouldn't do a finance check on a vehicle of that value?
It's rare that people buy a 40k car with savings.

Are Credit Union car loans on the finance register?

Those e60 non sports models have aged terribly and were out of date before being replaced at the start of this decade. Sports holding up remarkably well though, some difference in looks.

Bmw is very sensitive to spec level, e60 not only one.

This was for sale last year on Donedeal by its original owner, he wanted 4k for it at the time and it was gone in days. Lovely spec on it

A year later and its gained 6 owners!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,742 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Maybe adding 4 extra owners in a year would have something to do with the price of tax

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,439 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Yeah but if there’s a change of ownership 4 times in a year he’s just not paying tax and claiming a recent change of ownership if stopped by the guards.

Ooh I wish I hadn't seen that, that's very tempting (after a haggle)

PCP - no finance check needed nor completed. Not currently regulated by the central bank either. But I think that's due to change.

It's not a credit union or bank loan.

I read somewhere that insurance companies charge more if it has more than 5 owners. Could be bollox but worth considering.

Thinking of going to have a look at this: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2009-saab-93-diesel-nct-01-21/23420269

Bit put off by the big miles but it seems a well sorted car otherwise. Any advice for prospective buyers?

Well worth a look if it’s not too far from you. Seems well sorted and it does look clean
