    Kearney again. For feck sake

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,999 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That's poor from Kearney but even worse from Stockdale.

Awful again from Henshaw. I'm starting to form an opinion that he's an outstanding provincial player but lacks a bit of nous at this level.

    Nonsense
Sounds like he having a defensive mare in 13 channel though

We're better than this. Not playing to our normal standards.
Aki, Stander, both Ryans doing well.

Kearney and Stockdale mixing good with bad.

    Holy ****...

Another missed tackle by Henshaw, either get man or ball, or both. He just let Foley go, had he taken him to ground there wouldn't be a blind side option.

Yes the caveat that you shoot out of the line is that you MUST get man and ball and stop the attack. Shooting out of the line only for the attacker to get the pass away is unforgivable.

    Rudderless few mins.

We're seeing what Ringrose brings when he plays. Blessed to be 2 points down. Need halftime

Two big mistakes in a row by Kearney.

Earls guilty of that earlier too.

Stats won't make for pleasant reading for a lot of our lads this half.

Kearney doesn’t look right, did he get a knock to the head?

Has Earls failed the HIA ?

He's not. Its quite clearly a tactic that we're putting pressure on their second line.

It's high variance. He slipped one tackle which required Stockdale to save his blushes, and he didn't get enough of the man the second time and they scored directly from it.

He's forced two errors from them doing it though, and those turnovers should (but haven't yet) lead to good outcomes as they're in good spots for us.

He looks out on his feet alright, not sure if it's a knock or just fatigue.

I'll take that scoreline at half-time

  • Registered Users Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

For the errors we've made I'm happy enough.

Healy and Furlong will be a vital addition to an already strong forward performance.

Hoping Kearney has a storming second half so the main thread is bearable for the next week

Henshaw very lucky that Australia haven't scored more from his mistakes.

Very good showing but some poor errors from the likes of Henshaw and Kearney.

We're still very well placed. Pack are having an immense game.

Very poor first half attacking wise. Four visits to the 22 and only 6 points to show from it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,631 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Honestly, we're lucky to go in at half time just two points behind.

Their intensity has been a bit of a shock for us I think, and Folau has pretty much ruled out any sort of aerial attack.

Some really poor mistakes that need to be cut out, I definitely think Henshaw is rudderless in that 13 channel and should be switched with Aki.

    forced the mistake once more!?

    Incredibly generous!

Henshaw is extremely shakey, need Ringrose there next week. Kearney mixing great with poor. Need those lads to tighten up in the 2nd half and we can get the lead back.

He's pretty clearly having a poor time defensively. He's made two huge mistakes that should've led to two tries but for Stockdale. Tactics or not he's been poor today

That's a great result for Ireland at half time.

Australia have thrown EVERYTHING at us and we've soaked it up well. We were starting to impose our game on them a bit when one or two individual errors gave Australia the try.

This is exactly where we want to be with our bench to come on. We'll scrum them off the pitch from 60 minutes on.

Glad Sexton didn't start, I'd say he'd have been in trouble given the nature of some of those early exchanges.

I don't think any of our outside backs are having a great game to be honest. High profile errors from Henshaw and Kearney have been costly. This is probably Henshaw's worst 40 minutes in a green jersey.

The backrow is getting dominated. Struggling to deal with Pocock and Hooper.
