Proof that you can't buy taste.

I remember that couple, it involved embezzling a small local financial instruction. I think they spent that money on crazy holidays and what not.

They say she liked having nice things, meals, etc and letting people know.

Was that the one where she stole €400,000, but the financial institution's insurance covered the loss?
The financial institution was still at a loss of €207,000 however.
    How, one might ask?
That was the cost of the auditor's investigation into the theft.

Yep it was one of the lesser scandals, when you put it in perspective of the main financial intuition of the state in the same time frame.

They say money is the root of evil. The truth is money is an inanimate object, the real truth is our relationship and attitude to money.

It was her alright. They said they she was meant to have being paying back half of it but she is meant to have wiggled out of it in some way.
She spent very little time inside and went on Community Service and she told everybody she was doing ''Work Experience''.

Jokes about criminals houses are sometimes mentioned here. This is owned by a couple and the wife stole over €400,000 from her work place.
I guess the matching curtains and three piece were expensive.

Dont laugh, my parent built a house like this

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,436 ✭✭✭KevRossi

My parents built a house about 40 years ago. What I thought was an architect, but was actually an engineer/builder came around with the designs. All done on paper, about 10 of them. 3 other houses were built on the road over the next 3 years, all roughly the same, just some small layout details were changed.

Genuinely laughed when I seen those curtains. To each their own, and everyone's taste is different, and all that, but they look so incredibly out of place in that house.

I saw those curtains and just thought "notions."

Her husband is actually is a builder.(I'm 99% sure) and they'd be expensive enough to use.

Today I have this little beauty for you. Only a snip at €1400 a month. Look at that unplastered wall, the country charm of the corrugated Iron roof, and that G-rated insulation with gap between the door.

That place would be an ice box on a normal enough night. Imagine how bad it would be with the night's we've had lately.

I can feel the draught from the photos. Yikes. It would be Baltic. At least there’s donkeys to keep you warm while you cry

At least you could check out the WiFi before moving in given you know the password.

Would be lovelly to treat as a holiday house for 4 months a year. As an actual year round home. *frozen emoji*

All the money spent on that house and they couldn't pay the ESB to move their service cable underground? The mind boggles

You would go asleep and wake up in middle of night because your roof has actually blown off!

The key to why they might get that money is the 6 month lease. With plenty of new builds in Rathdrum there will be plenty to use it as a trial run or stepping stone for their move there.

They could store the Pfizer/Biontech vaccines there and they'd keep indefinitely.

That star gazing facility possibility is what brought it up to €1,400 pm.

In fairness the BER Cert was done only last week and appears to be legit, unlike many of the other private rentals I see on Daft.

First time I've ever seen an estate agent admit "the property is in poor condition" :)

I've since toured the area using street view; that is one grim location.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,863 ✭✭✭mikhail

House didn't looked in good condition when street view was done.
I knew that name rang a bell. Subsidence did a number on that estate.

NAMA demolished a block of unfinished apartments there:

As recently as 2018, there was a 3 bed semi in that estate being auctioned with a reserve of €15k.
