    from Daytripper Facebook

    THIRD HEADLINER CONFIRMED
Delighted to announce that after many months of chasing acts for Daytripper 2018, our 3rd Headliner was confirmed today. We are happy that we have a great mix of top quality international and national acts, with something for everyone over the last weekend of summer, Fri 24 to Sun 26 August. Full details to be announced on Fri 13 April.
    DAYTRIPPER 2018 🕺ðŸ»ðŸŽ¸ðŸ’႒🎧ðŸºðŸ˜Ž

same weekend as the pope is in Ireland but I doubt it will have much effect on this. Be interesting to see who the acts are and hoping its not a certain UB40 (they are free on the 24th and 26th Aug) as they have had enough slots here the last few years

Id love someone like Manic Street Preachers

Hearing the Saturday will be walking on cars and the coronas.
Sunday Aslan and the guy who told me was hinting at madness but not sure .
First night they were trying for underworld but don't think it came off

Underworld are playing the other festival so I'd say they were outbid and with the bigger crowd I'd imagine they would have preferred it anyway.

They have said that each days headline act have never played in the south east before.

Fair point. The guy who told me would be well connected to it and def said walking on cars. The coronas and Aslan. From what he described I took it as madness but can't be certain. It could well be those 3 Irish acts on the one night with walking on cars the headline for that night

Id say snow patrol could deffo be a headliner. Makes sense when they said they haven't played southeast yet, have been chart toppers and also they are going to be playing in cork and wexford aswell

    There prob too big

That's only a small tour to promote the new album.

I'd be happy with them playing Daytripper tbh. Looking forward to seeing the lineup Friday

Told tonight the coronas pulled out . Apparently first 2 nights geared to older crowd and Sunday for younger

Prob pick this over the new festival in portlaw as it's much easier to get too and I'm not a fan of festivals

Still great for the county to get 2 music festivals

basement jaxx are the only decent band.

wont be purchasing unless there is a decent line up supporting basement jaxx

oh wait i take that back i just checked the website...... king kong company and jenny greene. i wont be purchasing!

Sunday line up is some craic. somewhere in between Rudimental and smash hits they have advertised a "very special guest" so my bet is Rick Whelan :D:D

when you see tribute bands in your top 3 artists of the day you know this festival is ****ed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 218 ✭✭cbmonstra

    Absolutely hyped for this lineup.

Just bought tickets for the Saturday only. Can't afford the whole weekend, (already going to ATN) but would love to be able to.

Went to the first couple of years of Daytripper, but not last year as I thought the lineup was a bit lack lustre.

This is amazing though. Fair play to the organisers. Will be great to see Waterford become a destination for concert goers. It was always a great town for live music back in the day, so hoping this is the start of good things for the Deise.

yes - its infinitely better than an annual appearance from UB40 and a wedding band

Yeah, some. Its not Coachella. Not a fraction of what now goes to EP. Id say you'll get a **** load of decent late 30's early 40's festival stalwarts.

Sister sledge....that's brilliant.as always, daytripper is a great night out even if none of the acts are the oft quoted on here 'my type of music'.haven't missed a year yet so delighted they came up with an act anyone (maybe a bit older) into music can have a great night out, few beers, listen to some decent music, etc.

Pity MC Pat Flynn isn't headlining. I think he's a wonderful musician. Gifted. His music fills me with such intense emotion. Such endearing tunes that remind me of past rendezvous with girls such as "Get on ur knee" a song which encourages all the young people to fall to their knees in prayer at veneration of our Lord.
