Unbelievably slow dispatching the last while

Is there a problem at the moment?

I've noticed this myself. Ive had two recent orders, first was ordered 4th March and dispatched 10th March, arrived this afternoon. Second was ordered 7th March and has yet to dispatch.

Maybe orders with free shipping are being put on the long finger slightly to encourage people to move to paid delivery or prime.

Looks like Amazon free 2 days guaranteed delivery for prime users in Ireland could be coming soon, here is why:

In the past, when selecting Priority delivery to Ireland, Amazon uses UPS for the delivery and charges a lot for it.

I tried priority delivery for an order yesterday and I was charged 7.20GBP for it. It was dispatched this morning by Amazon and due to be delivered tomorrow by Anpost.

Amazon became very slow in dispatching order with free delivery, but as soon as it's dispatched using Anpost, they reach us in 2 business days.

I really hope that Amazon will bring 2 days free delivery to Ireland for Prime members, as I don't see a reason why since everything appear to be in place and would only require Amazon to dispatch the order quicker.

Yes, but not for priority delivery (quick dispatch) as it was always UPS.

For free deliveries, An post delivers in 2 days but the order reaches us in a week or so as amazon are slow to dispatch.

They seem to be leaving deliveries to be picked late, and then making the delivery on time, or sooner, via An Post. They seem to deliberately tying them into An Post schedules, which isn’t a bad thing at the moment.

9 days waiting for 4 small items to be dispatched

All in stock fulfilled by Amazon

They must be trying trying to lose customers

4 small items in stock ,fulfilled by Amazon,10 days waiting for dispatch

They've guaranteed dispatch now within 24 hrs

Amazon has got progressively slower with dispatch

I thought it was only me..... I ordered an item, probably in November last, that was to be a Christmas gift. Two weeks later, it still hadn't been dispatched despite being listed as 'in stock'. So, I cancelled the order, and reordered the item from another seller on amazon's page. Same price, free delivery, and I had it in two days.......

How did you get it free delivery from another seller?

Did you use a forwarding service?

No, the seller offered free delivery. A lot of them do. Previously, I never bothered to check the list of sellers, and just automatically ordered from amazon. I will certainly check the other sellers in future, after that experience.....

Problem is you don't know WHERE they are in stock. If 1's Bristol, 2 are Fife and 1 is NL then you've to wait for consolidation in Athlone before you get the actual dispatch.

Apologies for my first answer...... I have just discovered that I did infact use Parcel Motel for that delivery. The seller offered free delivery to the UK. So, the item ended up costing me €4 more, but at least I got it when I needed it.....

Sounds more like amazons problem than mine
    to be fair

    Too long waiting for dispatch

Waiting for up to two weeks for a free delivery parcel to be dispatched by amazon is nothing new. A vast majority of mine get dispatched on Sundays, BTW.

I'm amazed really, if I order with Prime and drop to NI (Parcel Motel) it's there within two days at the motel.

If I drop to my address it takes about two weeks still using prime.

    WTF are they doing?

Ireland is treated like second rate by the like of Amazon etc.. Google have the HQ for the EU here and you can't even by there products in Ireland, like there phones, yet go 100/200km up there road to the UK and you can. To me that is fúcking insulting.

They are Sooo slow now with the free delivery ,up to a week before dispatch

I can only assume they want to get buyers off it?

Errr, prime doesn't work for Ireland. So if you are getting free delivery to Ireland then it's standard free delivery which has a long delivery window... The same as in the UK

It's not really the delivery time that's the problem... It's Amazon not dispatching the item. They still hadn't dispatched the last item I bought from them after two weeks, at which point I cancelled the order. God knows when they'd have finally dispatched it.....

8 days and counting,6 days for my other order, still no dispatch

Promised me dispatch within 48 hrs 2 days ago, that deadline has passed too.

I ordered a battery charger and some batteries last Wednesday, still not dispatched. First time really noticing it being this bad.

Thing is, Prime is no good for Irish users. I had a trial last year and ordered some products, was using Addresspal as I didn't mind paying €3.50 or whatever it was to get delivery in a few days.

Even though I had ticked to group all items into 1 delivery, they split them into 3, to offer me an 'improved customer experience'. So I had to pay the Addresspal fee for all 3 deliveries.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 318 ✭✭Mikenesson

They must be losing money on the £25 deliveries?

    I'll continue to use it.

Its deadly when you need a couple of random items delivered together.

I don't think they have any competitor in that regard?

Funnily enough, I've found Amazon seem to be dispatching quicker recently.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 318 ✭✭Mikenesson

They're getting a bit tricky on the returns

They tried to switch me over to paying for return postage rather than prepaid

I've been retuning more of their electronic tat lately

I've just been charged for my order so presuming it's dispatching today. Great thing about Revolut, you know exactly when the payment is processed.

I must be very lucky with the amazon free delivery. For my last order the estimated delivery time for free delivery was actually sooner than paid for delivery. The order arrived on the day estimated.

Recently ordered three items because I wanted one item and added in another two others to get free delivery. Guess what the two I don't need in a hurry have been sent and the item I really wanted is still awaiting dispatch, only 4 days so far but I can remember when anything I ordered was dispatched within 24 hours on average and 48 hours at worst.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 318 ✭✭Mikenesson

You wouldn't want to be in a hurry with anything now on free delivery

I've been returning a few bits of electronic stuff Fulfilled by Amazon,I'm not sure why they bother fulfilling electronic junk when so much has to be returned.

I can only assume they know what they're doing as bezos is the world's richest man

So finally received a message saying my items have been dispatched. These were for a few small, in stock items.

    Ordered: 13th June
    Charged: 19th June
    Dispatched: 25th June

Ordered a smart watch on Friday 22nd via amazon.co.uk to be delivered via Parcel Motel. It's from some obscure Chinese seller but Fulfilled by Amazon so thought I'd be OK, and it would be shipped from Amazon in the UK, so a couple of days at most especially as I paid an extra £5.49 for so-called "expedited" delivery and was also given a Royal Mail tracking code.

Anyway, nothing happened at all until Sunday when it appeared in Italy, and now it appears to be taking some meandering route across mainland Europe via France with no indication of where it's going next. Expedited my arse.

My last delivery was 2 days earlier than their delivery window mentioned.
But it wasnt that long ago that whatever i ordered on Sunday, was delivered on Wednesday.
It is nowhere near that quick anymore.

Last year i had once 2 orders on the same day: Books that had to come from the USA and needed to be delivered at family in The Netherlands and some stuff for myself from the UK to Ireland.

    Guess what was delivered first.

Waited 6 weeks for a hose pipe to be delivered recently. In fact I ordered two and only one was delivered still waiting for the second 8 weeks now. Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.

Edit> Its great to complain here because when I do the stuff I've complained about usually turns up :) second hose pipe arrived this afternoon.

But still waiting for a toolbox that is "Out for Delivery" for the third day in Germany somewhere - lets hope that gets it here tomorrow.

Ordered 4 items last nite ,3 dispatched already amazingly

They gave me a free month prime and it's some sort of expedited free delivery

Ordered 2 items on Monday, sold & fulfilled by Amazon, still awaiting dispatch.
Card charged for items on Wednesday.

I placed 3 orders recently, one on the 16th, another on the 17th and the third on the 22nd June.
    All in stock.
The order placed on the 22nd delivered yesterday the 27th.
It took over a week each to dispatch the first two orders and am sill waiting on delivery.

Can I be next for a moan please? :)

I swore for a while that Amazon had shares in UPS (ParcelMotel)...

Twice I ordered 8 or 9 items for delivery via ParcelMotel and selected the "group items" option and free UK shipping. Both times the order was split into three and I paid 12 EUR for delivery with ParcelMotel...
This time I ordered 8 items, selected the cheapest international shipping to my home address, and the order shipped as one unit.

    'splain that!

Last order took two days with Prime to my Parcel Motel. Well worth the 3.95 delivery, and very well worth it for not involving An Post in the delivery process!

I just sign up for new Amazon account & Prime whenever I need something quick, cancel the prime straight away so it doesn't auto renew and get one day delivery to Parcel Motel in NI. Takes another day for Parcel Motel to have it in my locker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,499 ✭✭✭✭Alun

Well my parcel that apparently left Gidy in central France at 4.18pm on Wednesday still hasn't arrived anywhere yet, that's nearly 2 days. Are they using camels for transporting stuff now or what?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,764 ✭✭✭my3cents

So here's a new one, well about the third time its happened to me recently.

I order two of the same item. Then when I check the tracking about 24 hours later oh joy of joy I see ONE has been dispatched but not the other?

I can only assume that other is in another country?

2-day priority shipping is now available with Amazon Prime to Ireland!

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=GK6S4CC8545EBQSV

"Unlimited Priority (Two-Day) Delivery to the Republic of Ireland (ROI). Threshold free on eligible items, at no extra cost. If items are not eligible for Priority Delivery, they’ll be delivered to the ROI via Standard (3-4 days) or Economy (3-5 days) Delivery at no extra cost."

I got that with my last order,I've a months free prime

Is that why they're slowing down the free delivery ,to get customers onto prime?

Most of my deliveries I got shipped over with AddressPal, I haven't had any issues with dispatch but I was using Prime at the time. My next order will be free shipping without Prime though so I'll be interested to see how that goes.

Are you sure the items are in stock? I ordered a Huawei P20 for €550 from a 3rd party but fulfilled by Amazon. Wasn't dispatched for a week and I had to log into the desktop website and click on the list of sellers to see "Pre-order, stock due X" beside his name. My order status said nothing about it, ended up cancelling it and having to wait for my money back.

In the UK it's about €9.50 a month. Decent service for free next day delivery if you use it along with Prime Video. (Provided Prime Video is set to default UK and not Ireland which I accidentally clicked and ended up with nothing worth watching).

It's weird how my free deliveries have been slow for ages now

The put me onto prime for a free month and now I'm gettting priority delivery

    Certainly looks that way

Well eventually late on Friday afternoon it popped up in a Royal Mail facility in Bristol UK, was delivered to PM in NI at 6.10am the next day and I had it in my sticky hands by 8.30pm. The last section of it's journey where it had nothing to do with Amazon was by far the most efficient.
