Starting this off the back of the "worst game show we have" thread ..

It's Wednesday, hump day, we don't need negativity.. let's reminisce instead !

My favorite was definitely Gladiators!! One quality theme tune & I always wanted to do that gauntlet.

Saturday night tele just hasn't been the same since the golden era of Baywatch followed by Gladiators & then Blind Date with aul Cilla !

The correct answer is "Murphy’s Micro Quiz-M". Observe:

    For me,
Home grown : Where in the world. The Lyrics board. Secrets with Gerry Ryan. (not really a game show?)
UK : Strike it lucky (Barrymore) Blankety Blank. Krypton Factor. Going for Gold (Jesus I loved that!) You Bet. +1 for Gladiators. And original Crystal Maze.. Bullseye was class too. "Settle in now settle down.. Plenty of time now plenty of time"

I remember Jim Bowan saying years later that nobody would ever take the Star Prize on Bullseye unless maybe it was an exotic holiday or something.

Instead the production company would offer them the cash equivalent for the car, speedboat or whatever and the contestants would split the money between them.

They were using the same bloody speedboat for years.

He also said if a team gambled and lost their cash it would be given back to them regardless once off air.

There was a show on ITV for a few years called Golden Balls, which was based off game theory and the classical prisoners dilemma. If ever a TV show displayed how cruel and greedy human beings could be, it was this show. Take a look at the prize b&tch in this video:

Number One, the music quiz with Dave Fanning, Gerry Ryan, Dave Heffernan and then Joe Elliott. A friend of mine appeared on it as one of the guest contestants.

Has to be Where in the World?

For bonus points, the best on the radio: Larry Gogan's Just a Minute quiz.

A celebrity charades show with IIRC Ronan Collins hosting.

Also, the music quiz show Number 1 involving Dave Fanning and Joe Elliot from Def Lepard.

I'll go with winning streak too.

Its a 30 minute slice of entertainment for the handful of people directly involved. No skill, no questions, just flipping coins to see if you won 4 grand or 5, a Toyota car or a holiday.

There is no entertainment for anyone outside the families playing the thing.

    Nothing!

Strike it lucky. Loved it, Michael Barrymore before the dead guy in the pool

Strangely enough, Barrymore is a fully qualified lifeguard. He was a butlins redcoat and it would have been part of standard training. I think he was dealt a very unfair hand by the tabloids. A really funny guy. On topic, Where in the world with the lovely Theresa Lowe.

Didn't they find a lad floating in his swimming pool with an arse on him like the Jack Lynch tunnel?

Kevin Myers presented a quiz show called Challenging Times. Ireland's answer to University Challenge. The fúcker had more drink taken than most of the people watching it.

I liked Family Fortunes. The end part was always good although I don't like it with Vernon Kay.

Wrong thread but I inexplicably can't stand him.
