I hate the bloody cold weather, thought we were finally done with it.

Hope this turns into a non-event...So people actually don't have an excuse to not go to work. Which is mainly what most of them want.

As for stripping the shops of bread etc, I have no words for that.

Ping pong balls?? Who would have thought a touch of snow would boost ping pong sales.

Once the snow hits, all modern technologies and entertainment will grind to a halt

Might make a start chopping up the furniture, gather the photo albums, kids toy, basically anything that will burn. Have already turn the parents out, can't afford to feed those not able to help rebuild.

I have to say I don't remember this hysteria before it snowed in 2010/11

I remember being in a supermarket the day Ophelia hit. It was like the apocalypse with people trying to buy groceries before the storm hit.

Same, had to kick a pensioner to the ground to get the last loaf of Brennans' Batch.

A bit of Fecking snow. Get a grip.
I'm currently in a country where it snowed all day, temperature is -12.
My boyfriend is in Finland, -22 tomorrow.
Life, work etc will go on as normal.
I was in Slovenia 2 weeks ago, left the airport in a snow storm, 3 or 4 feet of snow everywhere. Life, and flights went as normal.

Just found an educational video that might help me survive this called "Alive". As far as I recall their is a section on additional food when you run out.

Without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say its time for us to crack each others' heads open and feast on the goo inside?

No, Goo day is Thursday, but remember NO chugging goo on Friday.
    After all, 'tis Lent.

They are sensitive over on that weather forum aren't they. Pointed out it's embarrassing that people are panic buying bread, milk and other food stuffs for a couple of days of snow and got a red card.

To be fair, there are currently over 2000 people viewing the weather forum (around 4 times as busy as AH), so they've got lots of posters who aren't used to the general tone of the forum diving in with AH-style posts. It's like a pub on Christmas Eve when every bastard and his mother walks in the door, and the regulars can't even get near the bar to order a pint.

For the regulars over there, weather is their hobby and diving in to take a poo all over that seems somehow wrong to me, so I keep all my stupid and facetious posts (which, unfortunately, is all my posts) for AH.

you'd know well the snow is going to hit Dublin

Dubs need to harden the fcuk up

At least we won't have to worry about flying trampolines this time!

Did you know, a shark will only attack you if you are wet.

That comment is outrageous & quite frankly dangerous! I watched a documentary on this exact thing.
I strongly advise everyone to dismiss this reckless attitude.
If you don't believe me watch it yourself, it's called Sharknado. Stay indoors people!

I thought people were exaggerating the stories about the bread and milk but I was down at my local Spar a couple of hours ago and they were cleared out.

I'd say it was a great day for grocery retailers across the country.

Especially since all the roads in a city will be gritted / cleared, and everyone in Dublin lives within walking distance of a shop and / or restaurant anyway.

    The whole episode is pathetic.

Some ****ing eejit just left the apartment block door (2 metres away from my front door) open for the last 30 minutes and it's about -10°C outside, how stupid can you get? At this hour if I hadn't gone out to check it probably would have been open all night

They are countries where it makes sense to invest in keeping the country running in snow as it is definite that it will happen every year. It’s not a comparable situation.
