    Hi,

Has anyone tried to refill the compass? I have an old Plastimo Compass which a I have disassembled and located the bleed screw. Most of the info I found online online was about adding Naphtha but I am not sure where possibly I could buy the Naphtha...Anyone? Thanks in advance

I have used chilled Turpentine Substitute and it worked perfect. Cost of the repair €1.50

try Isopropyl Alcohol. Its used in aircraft compasses and won't affect rubber seals. You should be able to find suppliers online.

I used "turpentine substitute" I bought in one of those discount stores. It smelled exactly like the original liquid in the compass and after checking if it will mix with the original stuff, I decided to give it a go. So far so good, doesn't leak after one month and there is no air bubble. Before filling up, I have chilled the liquid in the freezer for couple of hours so when it got up to temperature and expanded, it forced the air out the the bleeding port before the bleeding screw was tightened. Overall it was super easy fix and I am glad that I saved the old compass.
