I don't like Clarkson at all but I think in this case he was right to clarify what the friend said. It was a bit confusing even when you were sitting at home so I can see how she picked it up wrong. Her intention was to go with what the phone-a-friend said, so it would have been awful if she mistakenly thought he meant the other one.

He was not right to clarify. He will get a bollicking.

Imagine if it was the other way round and Clarkson misheard and corrected her by mistake and she picked the wrong one!!

That is an excellent point. And, as we seen tonight, that could easily be done. He was either second guessing himself at the end after clarifying it to her or, as I said above, was backtracking knowing he had got too involved.

As I said, he allows himself to get far too involved in the questions and deliberations over the answers.

His "lucky man" comment to the contestants husband because he slept with her when she was a 13yr old was a tad unsettling............ to say the least!!

Errrr??? What?! I must have missed that bit? Whats the story there?

It would have been interesting to see whether he would have guided her if the answer he gave was wrong and Clarkson knew, so by default if he guided her and told her exactly what he said she would have got the question wrong, but if he left her to her own devices (ie mistaking the callers answer with Clarkson not clarifying her mistake) she would have then got it right.

What if he had clarified the conversation to her and the answer "the friend" gave was wrong so basically Clarkson changes her intention to the wrong answer? Would you be happy with that?

Clarkson is getting far too involved in the show and the questions and it is going to blow up in controversy one day.

    Hmm. Good point.....

    Very true

I can only assume Clarkson will be pulled aside and advised not to do it again...

Surely everyone is thinking the same....

Thinking about it in general, it was probably a natural reaction as Clarkson knew she didn't cop on.

Prob a lesson to be learnt for future shows

    However

If the `phone a friend` misheard a question \answers or if the guest called them out incorrectly, I don't think Clarkson (or any host) should be involved

You're hatred of Clarkson is making you look petulant, I find him entertaining and he's part of the reason I watch it, you can choose not to because you dont like him, but putting words in his mouth is childish and just looks bad for you

I would have liked to see how this show would have worked with Philip Scholfield as host just for comparison ...

    Oh, God Jesus no.

Besides, Schofield is busy doing every other ITV Show.

He is just a different type of smug but equally as full of himself

    Cool story.

He more or less said it! My comment was a tongue in cheek version of what he said. Relax yoirself

ps, I don't hate him, I hate the caricature of himself he plays on shows like Top Gear, WWTBAM, etc. This personality doesnt suit the show.

I mean everyone knows the group A-HA, and it was not in the 50's they were popular, it was the late 80's. Sean Connery was not Bond in the late 80's.

    :D

Sean Connery was Bond just four years before Timothy Dalton, and Roger Moore did one in between those.

It was a busy time for Bond with lots of personnel changes. It wasn't the easiest question.

    1983 - Moore (Octopussy)

1983 - Connery (Never Say Never Again) ** Unofficial Thunderball remake not produced by Eon Productions

    1985 - Moore (A View To A Kill)

1987 - Dalton (The Living Daylights) ** Should have been Pierce Brosnan but he had contractual issues with the Remington Steele TV Show

I’m no fan of Clarkson (but do admit I like him on this!) but you’re way off there.

He clearly meant he was lucky he met the love of his life at 13.

You implying he meant they were sleeping together at that age is a bit creepy.

I swear I genuinely thought he said something more on the line I was saying, and hats the truth.

I wish I had someone to clarify to me before I jumped the gun!

All nice and easy questions so far. Wasting 50/50 on an easy question she knows the answer to. Asking the host now as well, nerves have got the better of her.

Yes she seems like the sort of girl if you asked her did she want Rice Crispies or Corn flakes she'd have a nervous breakdown trying to give you an answer.

God she's so boring. Glad to see the back of her. Yawn.

Should have had £16,000 with all of her lifelines left. At least she won something.

This guy's not the slightest bit annoying.

Edit: Although, having hearing him talk, he's a bit brighter and braver.
