Just said I would post about my experience with parcel connect!

My parcel from Amazon was checked in in the North Friday, Monday morning tracking changed to say it was out with the courier. So expected to get word at some stage Monday evening but nothing. Yesterday got a phone call, it was the manager from the store I was supposed to get my package from. Said my parcel had been sat there for days, and there was no sending address on it, I explained it was mine for collection, he seemed a bit Confused about it..first alarm bell! Anyway, he told me what was in the box, but I know Amazon aren't exactly secretive with their packaging so I just assumed it was listed on the box..

Went up to collect it, asked a member of staff about collecting a parcel from them and she didn't know what I was talking about. I said about the sticker in the window about the service, but she said it was only for sending stuff. She got the manager and he found the box, anyway he wasn't too impressed at me using their shop as a C/O address, and couldn't understand why I had, said the same as the other girl that it was only for sending. They had opened my parcel and gone through it, not that there was anything secretive in it but I don't like my stuff gone through, maybe I'm OTT! He didn't know anything about a charge either..
Nice as it was to save a few bob I'd still have happily paid for it just for everything to have been more straightforward!

I've been using Parcel Motel for 2+ years and was always happy with them, the motel is an hour from my house though and a bit out of the way, so Parcel connect would have been brilliant as the shop is just by my house..! But until there's more training in place I'll be back to parcel motel in the new year. Unfortunately I've already ordered another package which is with parcel connect already, and I've changed my favourite location to another store. It means a few bus trips to get to but I hope it's a bit more pleasant..!

I'm going to send an email off to parcel connect to say about my experience, but also about not being charged for my parcel, I'm sure they won't be too happy..!

Shocking stuff Rosedust! Laughable that they're advertising a paid service and you get given out to for using it....only in Ireland. I sent an email in a number of days ago but have heard absolutely nothing. Crazy stuff.

Mine still on website out for delivery, you mention DHL on your reply but I assume is a mistype and you meant DPD.ie or did you check wrong website.

Where you register on the parcel wizard website? If we all are I wonder if it's some kind of gift for xmas?

My guess is that it'll probably be a cheap Christmas hamper with cheap/small/rubbish food items....take my advice and don't try ringing them to find out....

Maybe strange part is that I change the parcel to deliver tomorrow so might have to call them later if they try while I'm out.

Just got the DPD delivery.....a small fcuking sticker!! I know they call this the "silly season" but still.....it's just a palm sized sticker of the DPD Wizard with my ID number on it. A complete waste of time.

Mine is still gone from the parcelwizard site but I just got an SMS telling me it's going to be delivered in the next 2 hours.

Shows that parcelwizard is not really working because it's not doing as promised to keep me up to date.

I'd say it's there...go into the "My Deliveries" section and try either "Future Deliveries" or "Past Deliveries" sections. I'd say it'll be in either of those two. It's total crap anyway....first time I ever had to sign for delivery of a sticker.

I just got mine delivered and had to sign for a small white envelope which very fast made it clear what for a joke this is.

They did not use the parcel wizard ID in my address (no wonder it dropped off) as they should have.

They claim this package is 5 kg (that is what the weight is claimed on the letter).

The driver was having a bad day, when I joked about how this the most useless delivery in a while he was mumbling that he had delivered hundreds of them in the last couple of days.

Now let's see if a real delivery with parcel wizard actually works.

Got the same envelope lol why will they not just post something like that on a normal post or drop it in the door, imagine people that might had taken half a day to wait for delivery to get that fridge magnet.

Bit of a silly question:rolleyes: but i just registered for dpd parcel wizard how do i find out if any of my local shops in town are doing this.

Its not like parcel motel where it shows you the locations (my local parcel motel is over 45min drive proper pain in the arse)

If you're looking to order stuff from the UK then dpdparcelwizard aren't set up for that. Parcel Connect is what you want.

Some advice, keep an eye on the tracking when you see the parcel is deliver to the store go over to collect it even if you don't have the text, get them to scan it to generate the pin by text or just to hand it to you. :)

Will do thanks I'll order something after the Christmas rush.

Local shop is 3min walk and I'd be fairly friendly with staff so I could warn them to keep an eye out.

Well I got an email on Friday that they had my second order I've made with them. Obviously the service doesn't run at the weekends as it's been at their delivery hub since 4am Saturday morning.

Hopefully it'll get set up for collection some time tomorrow. At such time I'll have to brave going to collect and pay for it! I could quite probably be beaten up and given out to....who knows maybe they'll even know what I'm talking about! If I get the "oh we're for dropping off parcels not collections" line again I'll scream! :D

    Pray for me!

Probably just a fcuk-up in their email alert system.. unless the company on eBay sent you three laptops! :pac:

If the seller shipped freebies and stuff with it they could all be their own packet. EU - UK adapter and a leaflet could be enough to do it.

You'd think they'd all be in the one box though.

Strange. Well, we'll just have to wait and see!

Happened to my first order. Was a bug in the system. Only one tracking number became active on Fastways site.

You're right!! I just came back online because I thought to check each one ....only one is active. Thought I was going to look a prat in front of the whole shop paying for three parcels from the one person...phew!

So is this service better than ParcelMotel for ordering from the UK?

First package size and oversized things- I asked and here's what they said.
They are simply "refuse at the door in Antrim" if its oversized.

    Here is what I said:

Might I suggest you ask management to think about this and its consequences for a second.

50% of the time I have no idea if the retailer will put in 1 foot of padding around item and cause it to go oversize. The delivery charge from uk to Antrim might only be 9.99.

Your competitor "Parcel motel" will convert this 'over-sized' into a normal courier delivery to your home and charge accordingly which is fine, I pay a penalty but get my goods.

I do over 100 parcels of normal 'shopping' with parcel motel a year about 10 end up oversize despite my efforts.

Having a courier company (you) give back a parcel to say DHL at the door in Antrim and not offer to deliver it to me and charge me, is a bit nuts.
Plus I have to then pay DHL anyway to return it to amazon or whatever.

I suggest you give a backup address option on the web site and gets a method of taking online payments outside of the franchise scope but simply as a courier company.
e.g you tell me how big is 4 headlights in a boxes, and will I get them or will they be returned to shop? Who knows?

Sort out the size descriptions on the site. There not understandable by home users/shoppers.
Imagine I want to collect a paddling pool from amazon and I'm hit with this gibberish from your site :-)

"The maximum length of a parcel sent via a Parcel Connect store is 1.5m to Ireland and/or the UK.
The maximum length of a parcel sent from home, office or other location (collected by courier) is 2m within Ireland and 1.5 meters in length (for delivery anywhere in the United Kingdom). The total size of each Parcel for UK deliveries must not exceed 3 meters – this is calculated by measuring the parcel around the thickest part and adding this value to the height of the parcel(this is the standard procedure for measuring parcel sizes for UK operators such as ParcelForce and Yodel).
The total maximum size of parcels sent from home, office or other location (not Parcel Connect store) is 30kg dead or cubic equivalent. If the cubed weight is greater than the dead weight, the cubed rate will be used to calculate your quote. Please click here to see our Cubing guide. The total maximum size of parcels send via Parcel Connect store is 20kg dead or cubic equivalent."

You have great idea and backbone to support it, but if you want to get in on the online shopping market your going to have to stop thinking like a courier company and more like a front facing 'Joe Soap' consumer service. Simple & Safe

    Part 2:
I thought I'd try it out. 5 delivers in total.

Delivery 1 and 2 : Got them sent to local supervalu. Eventually seen it being signed for in supervalu- waited- next day other one was singed for- waited- still no pin for either. I just went up to shop: Here's my email to PC:

    Hi
Could somebody please train Supervalu Donegal town how to use the system or at least tell them that Parcel Connect operates in the store.

My first 2 parcels were a nightmare.
First No pins sent out. They have no idea you even have too scan it in.

I waited 2 days with no pin and finally just went to shop looking for it.

Took 20 mins to find one and it was OPENED. Not 'damaged opened' but 'tape cut with knife open'.

    Unbelievable.

Second one couldn't be found and I was asked to call back the next day.

    They were both 1M X 1M X 1M boxes.

Next day I was told there was nothing for me. I showed them a signature to prove they had one for me.
The search began. It too was of course OPEN!.

I offered to pay but they had no idea how that might happen so I left..

I have several more on the way but I'll try to redirect those to Ballyshannon if not to late.
Do Centra in Ballyshannon know their operating a collection service.?

I'm really trying to use your service but your making it really difficult if I turn out to be the only person in Ireland who knows how it should work.

Somebody on every shift should be responsible for the parcels.

All other staff members should know who that person is.

A Sign in the shop should have the Parcel Connect logo on it with directions to ask for the 'Parcel Manager'.

NO parcels should be open. The liability if something goes missing and privacy issues are obvious I hope.

A parcel should be scanned immediately on arrival.

A very clear system with out-going and in-coming parcels should be implemented in the store to stop the delivery man picking up the same parcels he left yesterday.(Happened me 3 times with the same parcel with collect+. )

    Delivery 3-4-5
I redirected these to Ballyshannon as the whole setup in Donegal was getting dodgy.
2 were fine, pin sent and all. The 3rd, well here's my email:

I'm to exhausted with your company and after driving 40 miles to pick up a non-existent parcel to write a long email.
    Parcel number ????????????.
    No pin code of course.
    Singed for by ???????????? 11:24:31 26/01/2015 at
    C/O Centra Ballyshannon Service St

Please can I have an insurance claim form.

Please give up this business. It cannot work. Shops are full of halfwits behind the counter.

They don't give 2 fks about anybody's parcel- why should they.

No one has any incentive to become a "package handler" for some twat that comes into the shop and makes you hunt around storerooms for parcels while other customers pile up.

Its either buried in the shop under boxes.

They gave it out to some else(why not, you DO realize the pins are irrelevant out here in the real world ).

My favorite: The courier picked it up for collection.

It took 2 weeks for that to get here, now I have to go through all that again.

Sorry for being a dick but out of 5 parcels 2 work, and this is what your supposed to do all day.

    So that's me
Never again will I have random shop staff poking around my parcels and being generally unprofessional.
BUT it's all ParcelConnect's responsibility at the end of the day to get my parcel to me in a discrete, safe, and reasonably quick time.

Think I've had around 10 parcels through Parcel Connect. Couldn't be happier. Always delivered next day even during Christmas rush. First time the staff in the newsagent weren't 100% sure of the procedure but got it sorted no issue. Even got a email from Parcel Connect to apologise. Think they're slowly becoming my favourite over Parcel Motel. Had to many issues with Parcel Motel.

Like any similar service, the end shop has a lot to do with the customer service. Thankfully my local are very helpful. Took around 20 minutes the first time to sort out but I remained patient and no name calling. Now everything runs extremely well.
