Gensler out, coins delisted as securities, framework put forward for entities to grow crypto, and a commitment to stockpile btc as part of the federal reserve.

How robust is crypto if it is so dependent on an election in one country?

Crypto isn't about countries or enrichment, it is about freedom.

Which of the two prints more money? Most importantly for us

In order for it to grow, there needs to be new bag holders.

No doubt Trump imo, I don’t buy either of their salesmanship, but trump is pro innovation and that’s contrary to the current regime which has constantly stifled crypto at every available opportunity.

It’s a strange policy stance, it loses votes from people interested and invested in crypto but doesn’t win any votes. It’s a terrible decision to make when the election is supposed to be close.

I'm not anxious.😀 I've been in this game a long time and I actually prefer bear markets in crypto.

Chart Pattern has repeated after all which leaves this 'bull' looking very meek. The descent to the 21 weekly combined with everything falling over wrt ETF & on-chain metrics was my bellweather, and as expected the sell off once it broke is picking up pace.

The halvings were always a law of diminishing returns but this 50-60% uplift compared to 400% last cycle is atrocious.

Good luck to the Hodlers, I'm sure btc will be 110k by year end, but the value is no longer there for me

There has never been a bull run which hasn’t seen pullbacks of 30 40 and 50%

What would it take to rise again, the cost saving exercise which doge are currently under will pay off to reduce inflation but that will take time, trump is still waving the stick of tariffs and hopefully is just a negotiation tactic, US states and federal have cleared the way for BTC strategic reserves but they haven’t even started buying yet, regulation is still to be clarified, the signs are still good to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭antimatterx

Eth saw a 50% decline over 10 weeks in summer 2021 before rallying to it's ATH in November.

The last 10 weeks eth has dropped 43%. Potentially has some more room to fall but I could see a great rally latter this year.

History doesn't repeat, but often rhymes.

Dodge department will do sod all for inflation; Trump's current budget is $4.500 billion tax cuts with $2.000 billion in increased borrowing over 10 years against Dodge hopeful savings of $50 billion (and I say hopeful because a lot of is already challenged and stopped in court for review). As reference the interest alone in 2023 was over $726 billion on the US debt… Inflation will continue on up on the tax savings alone before any tariffs etc. are applied to the equation and Dodge will have zero impact; or to put it in terms Americans understand egg prices are forecasted to go up 41% 2025 with other food prices expected to increase by 3.4%.

A reduction in spending is deflationary, doge alone won’t define deflation but it will contribute, that and other current cost saving exercises will filter through but they will take time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 212 ✭✭byrne249

I've been at this a while and I can finally say I am content to leave it for now knowing I've made a buck. Might see 2x in the short term? This cycle saw a 5x, possibly a 6x if your timing was impeccable. The last one was ~20x. And Honestly, my gut twists whenever I see Elon or Trump mention crypto and not in a good way.

But on your point. Are you saying you 'want' deflation? I thought it would be the other way around

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 212 ✭✭byrne249

I actually sold the last of my Eth last week, maybe that was foolish but a fool that made money did alright. I once genuinely believed it would hit 5-8k. I'm happy be to out of it because the change to POS never made sense to me, what creates the price floor? Nothing really, if you give me a 'free' token I will sell it at any price. The technical aspects to cause artificial deflation don't sit right with me either.

In saying all of this, I still believe in upside for the rest of the year 'rhyming' with past cycles but I just don't see it being a major financial windfall as in the past. And at it's core I always felt there is a black swan waiting round each corner and the stress of that isn't worth it either.

Brutal downwards price action, holdings down approx 40% in 3 months with no bottom in sight.

EU launching digital Euro in October, we will all be broke and begging for it by then at this rate😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭erlichbachman

If Japan raise interest rates again this week there will be a lot more tears, inflation is cooling though so the fed have to lower interest rates, just a question of how much. Money printing begins though it will take some time to flow through, step away from the screens folks, it’s springtime go walk outside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,486 ✭✭✭Kaybaykwah

I don’t know, Spring is severely overrated.

Well that happened quicker than I thought it would. Most of the rise was Trump anyway, but I didn't think he'd tank the economy so quickly.

Any guesses on what could create the next hype run?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭antimatterx

Buying eth when it hits 1500. Probably tomorrow at this rate.

Russia to officially be allowed to use USA crypto exchanges? Some new tax policy around crypto taxing in the USA (to coincide with a new Trump meme coin)? Covid style free money cheque to "restart the economy" is probably the more likely one however.

This was written the last time wrecking ball was at work - 100 times truer this time. People like link marine were going on about how good Trump would be for crypto and I was thinking in my head he'd likely cause BTC to tank, and sure enough…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 644 ✭✭✭_BAA_RAM_EWE

trump said he was gonna buy a Tesla to help Elon.

    here's hoping Tesla dies

not that I believe he was gonna buy one.

Tanking for now. The carrot will always be there for the small fry to stock up and the insiders will make a killing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,030 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

Whoever said they were buying ETH at 1500 might want to re-evaluate that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭erlichbachman

Trump reckons we haven’t suffered enough yet and continues to troll Canada.

I checked my thesaurus, I don’t see petty spitefulness along side trolling.

I just joined this board after searching for "Best Cryptocurrency discussion threads"….I needed a place (other than that Social Media cesspool) to vent and learn about the latest shenanigans in the Crypto "INDUSTRY"…..

It's Sunday here in the USA (Eastern Coast), and once again I see strange doings on the crypto market front….Since the beginning of this year when the Orange Hued would-be-Fuhrer was sworn in as the 47th President, the crypto currency Market has been a joke. EVERYONE in the retail crypto trading business (except me) was literally jumping for joy when Donald Trump was elected president….they all thought we were going to see another moonshot Industry-wide.

I, however, knew better because I understood the real impact that Trump's "policies" would have on the business, not to mention the impact the man himself would have on things. As someone already posted with Rick WIlson's Book, Trump is literally one of the WORST BUSINESSMEN EVER….EVER! You don't file for 6 Bankruptcies over the course of 45+ years (including 2 in the …..CASINO BUSINESS) unless you are a special kind of idiot. His corruption and lack of ethics alone guarantees that whatever he touches, will indeed die, but not before he and his army of 3,000 lawyers ensure he will survive a tiny bit richer. His MEME coin fiasco 3 days before inauguration was the match that turned the moonshot rocket into a fiery mess…his wife's Coin was simply the dispatcher rerouting the fire trucks.

Getting back to TODAY (Sunday) and what's happening….I watched with my Sunday Morning Coffee as my portfolio ONCE AGAIN lost about 12-15%, before yo-yoing back up slightly….on SUNDAY. This has happened too often now to be a coincidence. There is some SERIOUS collusion and market manipulation going on between the Exchanges, and the LARGE HODLERs like the Investment firms and a few whales. Simply looking at Bitcoin, the amount now in the hands of super wealthy HODLERs vs Small traders and retail hodlers has swung very far in favor of the LARGE Wealthy concerns. They've shaken out a lot of the small guys and concentrated in THEIR hands a lot of BITCOIN. It's very disappointing when you think about the original VISION of Bitcoin being a "playing field leveler" and something for the "everyday" man to have to get out from under the thumb of the super-wealthy.

Other Crypto-Currencies, like the pious self righteous Cardano, continue to advance a little then DROP….advance, then drop, over and over and over again. Someone is making a crapload of money on these continuous fluctuations. Is it all these AI BOT traders arbitraging the market to death? Or is it (again) some master plan by the masters of the universe to gain total control? Because Crypto is still so Unregulated and with no real oversight, it remains a haven for scammers, and little to no recourse for victims of scammers, or people who simply make a mistake inputting a number or value.

I belive in Cryptocurrency as a great thing for the future….but it's the FUTURE itself I worry, and weep for…..

    Dunkin' Donuts….I hate STarbucks.

As I said, I just joined this forum, and I don't plan on making all my posts as (seemingly) long, but honestly I am not going to hold back if I feel I have something legitimate to say. I WANT to be wrong about Crypto being corrupt, or co-opted by the usual suspects….someone PLEASE show me I am wrong. REALLY SHOW ME with evidence…..I'd be grateful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 212 ✭✭byrne249

Eth stopping it's free fall at 1870 for the last week looks very very strange, almost like someone is protecting liquidation of certain loans...

You said it yourself. It's becoming a closed eco system of wealthy elites. Exactly what it was purported to topple! You should type what you said here into Chatgpt and see what it says.

And if you're this emotionally involved you probably own too much...

They are. A big wallet some say is the Ether Foundation sold lots of ether to stop it a few days ago.

Loads of articles across all the sites on whales making huge multi million bets aaaaaaaaand they're all winning.

Had to double check there, thought for a moment I was on Reddit

Did anyone else see that one of the AI bots, can’t remember which one, was fed Reddit text and dropped something like 30 IQ points immediately.

No doubt about it that human intelligence has dropped drastically in the past 15-20 years, and I include my own in that, mostly I’d say because of the distractions, I’ve tried to read more the last while but have now reverted to audio books as my discipline of reading is not what it used to be.

Stolen Focus is probably the most insightful book I’ve read the last few years and gives the most accurate depiction of the current relationship of society and its distractions, and how we got here.

I don’t think that’s the full picture though, some people say society is becoming more and more divisive regarding political poles and I have a theory that the reason is not politics or beliefs but that we are starting to see 2 distinctive groups of people, critical thinkers and non critical thinkers.

Maybe it’s just the path we are on, AI will change society drastically in the next 10-15 years, there will be less and less for us to do in areas of production, the importance of gathering wealth at this moment in time can’t be underestimated, crypto will work side by side with AI in the future and is the best opportunity we have.

Anyways, enough from me, the bottom line is as ever about following the liquidity and this cycle is about to hot up, I’ve been buying since after the FTX crash at the bottom of the last cycle and plan to get out toward the top of this cycle, and my exit is near.
